I actually got this bag last year in time for my 3 week trip to Japan. First thing: the bag is fairly heavy on it's own and is bulky. There's no getting around it cause how heavy duty it is and the shape of it. I only had it on me a couple hours a day when I was traveling between cities so it wasn't bad. The straps are pretty comfortable and the sternum strap helps alot. It actually distributes the weight pretty well and never felt like I would get tired. I do have to say that I didn't carry it around all day when I was sightseeing because I brought my Matador Freerain24 with me which I use to store my DSL and sweater. In terms of compartment, this thing is an organizers dream. I just love all the pockets and dividers. I bought the divider cube cause I knew I needed it for all my camera equipment that I usually have a dedicated camera bag for. I was able to put my main DSL, flash, 24mm lens, batteries, and also my P&S on one side of the compartment. The other side I had all my electronic organizer for all my cable, laptop brick and portable battery. i also brought a power strip with me because I knew Japan supported the same 110v that America had so that I could charge all my crap and not worry about looking for multiple outlets which is something I learn from all my years going to conventions. The other big compartment was where I store some of my clothes though I do have to say i did bring another carry on luggage with me for clothes but also cause I knew I needed room for all the things I would buy in Japan. I also brought my laptop for work and research. In general I'm not one of those minimalist travelers and I thought this worked out pretty well for me. Just the weight of all the things I brought with me was close to 30 lbs and this handled everything and organized what I needed. I don't think I got too tired with the bag on my back at long lengths of time but its definitely not a daypack which is why I brought a packable one. I've used this bag so far 4 more times in travel to conventions and vacation and it's worked out pretty well for me. I know this is a lengthy review but I thought since you talked about traveling in Japan with it that I gave my view on it. Also in general Japan have luggage lockers everywhere for you to store and just carry a small bag around if you don't have a hotel room.

Another great review. Just received my wandrd 31L Prvke. The duffel and prvke combo for travelling seems like a good combo. I never check anything in and I'm a cube packer. Perhaps I missed it but where is the shoulder strap to use it as a duffel bag. Not the backpack shoulder strap but one that you can sling over your one shoulder.

Can this bag be carried on one shoulder? I already have a PRVKE, I want to have something bigger together with my PRVKE for other things while traveling. Also, can this be somehow attached to the handle of a large suitcase?

Bag has one flaw for carry on, it weighs almost 2kg empty. Given most airlines have carry on weight allowance of between 5-7kg. You will have only 3-5kg for the contents.
@PCBfighting

IMO bag is too big for carryon / onebag use. 45L? forget about it for airlines that limit carryon to 7 kg. This bag not worth the chance that you'll probably be forced to gate check it often. But YMMV. Curious what your expereince is, are batting 1.000% in getting back as carryon and avoiding checking it in?

I have one, and yes once fully packed it is very heavy to carry around. Especially if you have a tripod with you. But it is really rugged, I love the materials! The camera cube -- I end up not using it that often as a day bag because it just looks ugly to me. I have a PD Sling 5L too and I'm looking forward to travel with both!

I really like this bag, but the one thing keeping me at bay is that there doesn't seem to be a place for a shoulder strap. I am much more likely to use the shoulder strap more than I am the backpack straps. Is there a place to fix one, even if I had to buy my own strap?

Appreciate the review. I'm doing a couple few weeks in Asian and one week in Europe and was looking at this bag to replace my Peak Design 25L + luggage. After hearing this review I think I'll pass as it's probably not ideal to be strapping this thing to my back for during the day.

Don't get it man, you say prefer this over the Peak travel line for it's organization and easy access... But I believe the Peak offers better organization with all it's customizability (being able to configure your packing cubes, camera cubes and pouches depending on the kind of trip, using or folding down the organization panel in the front) and wayyy more (and easier) access (back, front, both sides). I used to own a Wandrd Prvke before by brother lost in on a trip in Europe... And I wasn't a fan. And I feel the Hexad share many of the same problems: poor functionality (despite its cool looks), complicated/laggy access, uncomfortable zippers... Just not the best.
@MikeWat
5 жыл бұрын
Haha great point buddy! I should have said that "at first glance, I chose this bag over the travel bag" since I haven't tried the PD bag, the access bag was a lot more affordable given the compartments are already like packing cubes vs. If you buy all the cubes and accessories for PD travel bag, it will be around $500. I'm sure PD has a lot more customizations but the best bang for the buck for me would be the access duffel.
