It's good that you have an eye for detail. That's disappointing QC.

They took care of you and got you another set and that's great. I know you're gonna spend quite a bit of time cleaning them up and that'll help a little but, those need QUITE at bit of work, you'd be VERY disappointed if you had em flowed. It'd be in your best to send those to a GOOD head guy to do a good valve job and even better have them ported, Like Eric Weingartner for example. You're leaving alot of power on the table !!!

Yes Eric would be the guy, but I'm going to do a lot myself and we'll put a good valve job on it. This thing ran pretty good with the first set right out of the box on it. It will only get better! Problem now is one guide on the new set is cracked so one head is going back!

@wolfwengler i saw that, that sucks.... You said "we're" gonna do a good valve job on it, you are or you're having it done? Just curious. It's not my money and i know its easy to spend other people's but, you have such a perfect opportunity to get the heads done by either Eric or a good CNC port job. You spend countless hours (ive seen) adjusting and tuning the carb so you're obviously trying to get the most out of what you have. I just don't understand why you'd leave soo much power behind.... 🤷♂️

Part of it is $$. I'm not cutting the valves myself but I'll clean up the castings, you'll see ;-)

Cleanup? Always a thing, and no bother to me. Spllit valve guide? Inexcusible - replace, and.... seat has to be re-cut.

I like the self clean up part, it's always done right! Seats? I'd prefer to have them all the same height!!

Good god that's dissapointing. You'd think with a customer who had to return something because of a warranty issue would have their new stuff checked over with an eagle eye. As a business you really don't want the word out that the same customer had a warranty issue twice in a row. But at least they're taking care of it. Patience is a virtue.
