In reference to the young Pharaoh getting married, when you may only live to 30 you are not waiting til your 25 years of age to get married and start a family. Even up until the 1800s people generally only lived to be 30-40yrs old so in perspective a teenager would have lived almost half a lifetime by 15yrs. Thankyou for fixing the "Hittite" pronounciation thing at the end. It really bugged me early on. Also, Population Y ... very interesting. I'd heard very little of this before. One question though: if Beringia was a land mass revealed by lower sea levels, what else in the Mid-Southern Pacific could have been available to paleo-peoples at the same time. I know there's nothing to the scale of Beringia, but clearly other currently-submerged lands would have been extant, simplifying the case for a trans-Pacific route.

@@EpicNate The theory that a large chunk of the south Pacific would have formed a livable continent seems less theory and more reality. Notably this is the same area that today has a major population of inhabited islands and we've found ruins that show people used to build sea ports... at a level far below what is now the surface. But how many people would have been displaced if this was a fully inhabited land mass? Millions? Where did they go? But here's another thing... the Incan legends about certain ancient sites.... claim the sites where ruined cities... BEFORE the Incans got there. How many thousand years ago was this? It's very true we know that the Americas had a history of... invaders wiping out the locals. Check out the theories about why the SE swampland areas in the US SW had FOUR language isolates. Leading theory is that they're relic populations of what used to be more wide spread languages... who got wiped out. One of them whose name escapes me right now... has as their most well known mythical account... that they were chased from their ancestral homeland which was much nicer and forced to live in the swamp by..... well, we have no idea who. And another thing! :D The "Cliff Dwellers" were not a single culture, or even a single GROUP of cultures. They apparently used to be highly hostile warring factions who fought over territory vs each other regularly.... like feudal dynasties.... then the US SW was plunged into a drought it STILL hasn't recovered from. this left them a pale shadow of the civilizations they used to be... and then the Navaho showed up to make their lives worse. Anasazi... that's just what the Navaho called them. Speaking of the Navaho... there's serious speculation they used to be a "First Nation" in Canada called the Naha, who fought wars regularly with their neighbors... then one day just... vanished. Yeah, if they migrated south that would fit with how the Navaho just.. popped up one day. And of course there's the possibility that what is in the 1800s genetic markers linked to SEAsia... may NOT have been linked to SEAsia over 9000 years ago.

A couple things on Population Y: There is evidence that the Polynesians made it to California and became the Chumash Indians. The Chumash tribe constructed canoes and fished around the Channel Islands (not the ones in between England and France) using techniques only the Polynesians did. However, the Austronesians never had this technology, so it’s unlikely they used it. Secondly, if the Austronesians were driven out of SE Asia and southern China by other groups, it would make sense that similar events happened in the Americas, so I like the second hypothesis that they were there first. Why they were driven out of SE Asia and southern China could be any number of reasons, but it’s likely that they were less technologically advanced than their neighbors because the Australian aborigines never developed bows.

@bruhistantv9806

"Population Y" is probably a signal of "basal east eurasians", which would explain why it's so constant over time. Basically, Basal East Eurasians are the ancestors of both modern east Asians, such as the Japanese and Chinese, and New Guineans, Australian natives and so and such. We know that there were at least 3 "definitive" invasions of the Americas in prehistory: the first one, that brought the bulk of the population, the second, that brought in the Na-Dene speakers, and the third and most recent one, that brought in the Inuit. Genetically, though, only the Inuit differ significantly: they're far more "Asian" than the rest of the native Americans. It could be assumed then, that there were more than these 3 migrations: at least 4. The first one was undertook by a much more basal population of eastern Eurasians. Note that some of the Jomon peoples in Japan also have this "southern" genetic affinity. Basically, this population, that was already diverged from the Basal East Eurasians (but not as much as it is today) crossed into the Americas first. Afterwards, a fully diverged population, mixed with Western Eurasian-derived Ancient North Eurasians entered, pushing the first ones down south, they themselves got pushed deeper into the Americas, and so on and so forth. Basically, the more south a native American population is, the older it is genetically. Hence why the second theory fits best I think

First off, Nate if you're reading this, awesome video! I did not expect historical content from this channel but I'm loving it, keep indulging your interests! Seconedly, regarding the Red Sirius mystery, there's something I haven't seen brought up that I'd like to add to the conversation. That being, it is actually a known phenomenon that certain ancient cultures refer to what we would consider blue as red instead. The most notable example of this is when Homer describes the ocean as "wine-dark." It's thought that they essentially saw blue as just another shade of red, (or at least referred to it that way), and people only started thinking of it as a distinct color when blue dye became cheaper and more popular, kind of like how we use the word "pink" now to refer to a lighter shade of red. Now I'm no expert and this is all coming from off the dome, so I can't be sure how plausible this explanation is for every account, but I thought it woulf be a fun tidbit for anyone interested in this kind of stuff; this conundrum could all be the result of nuance being lost in translation, thanks to the way that technology and culture change over time.

I’m absolutely in love with history and every single thing about how our world became the way it is. I really loved this video ad I’d be more than happy to sit through “a full two hour true crime video.” About actually history that occurred prior to the modern humans existence. Can’t wait until the ext battle, been intrigued by history my entire life, but this just makes it fun and so hard to forget

I like this series a lot. Especially when its about ancient politics because that was one big mystery on its own.

I actually 100% can see how prior to knowing genetics, people thought keeping bloodlines "pure" made sense. They weren't dumb people in ancient time though, so I'm just curious how long until someone caught on that "yo our babies are kind of coming out a lil messed up. Think that's related?"
