Looked like you used the same shaft for all heads however, Cobra don’t use a 7-iron shaft for every iron. Each ONE Length iron uses the correct shaft for the corresponding head, however, each features an adjusted flex profile (flighted technology) to promote optimal trajectories for the long irons to the wedges.

True. I currently play the Forged Tec Black with each shaft having ascending mass and kick points in accordance with the head that is on it. So yes each shaft is different.

Not sure which hybrid you had in there, there's a 2, 3, 4 and 5 in the Radspeed at 17, 19, 21 and 24 degrees respectively. The 5 irons on that set are 21 degrees so unless you had the 2 or 3 i'd expect no difference in carry. For me the why question is a simple one, a 5 iron that's as easy to hit a s 7. When your game has gone to hell on the course and you need a club to get you out of trouble, unless you are really good, 6 or 7 iron is the safety club. It will send it 160 down the course and get you going. You're a pretty decent hitter so that maybe doesn't apply to you but If i could crack my 5 or 4 iron with the same conviction as a 7 every time, the game does get easier! Even on a good day i still am more nervous standing over a 5 than a 7.

The "problem" one length clubs solve is repeatability, to promote one repeatable set up and swing. Obviously for someone like you who has been playing a long time, perhaps decades, it doesn't make much sense for you to switch to one length. But for someone just starting out, or who struggles with consistency, one length clubs would be SO MUCH easier to learn. Every club is the same length, you set up the ball in the same location with every club, and you perform the same swing. Having to learn 8-10 different swings, having to learn where to set the ball in your stance, and learning to hit long irons are made easier one length. Sure they might not solve anything for you, but they solve a lot for many amateur golfers.

the consistent ball placement and swing arc is huge for me. love the RadSpeed one-length - I upgraded from the F8s. gapping is not an issue for me at all. Great clubs.

Thank you for this review! I like the fact that you had no prior experience with SL irons until this vid. It comes down to philosophy. When something comes along that is "different" from what we have been doing for all of our golf life, it rocks the boat. Then a PGA pro(Bobby Jones, Moe Norman, Bryson D.) endorse the "difference" and are successful, and we really start to wonder if we have been missing something all of these years. For me, I embrace the challenge of adaptation! I've used progressive sets all my life and I'm ready to make this change! Time will tell. Thanks again!

Thanks for the thorough review! My impression was the single length is something that over time, is better for your body, i.e., your back! You don’t need to keep adjusting your stance, back angle, and ball position for each shot. Eventually, that would lead to consistency over time. So, not sure any of the reviews on KZitem at the moment can really get into that without playing with them over a period of time. I’ve had two hip replacements and want to preserve my back as best I can. I’m thinking of switching to single length irons for that reason (BTW, I’m only 52…had my first hip replaced at 43!).

excellent review. you actually had me sold on getting a set. I struggle in the accuracy dept. having one length, one ball position, one swing, will help make the game much more enjoyable. Now I only have to focus on getting the driver and sand wedge to be consistent. :)

As someone who switched to one-length irons within a few months of starting my golf career, I definitely think there are benefits to consistency of swing. That said, there is definitely a learning curve to making the switch. While I'd definitely encourage a new golfer to try one-length, the benefit is probably less for a golfer with lots of experience hitting variable length irons well.

I tried Cobra F7 one length (OL) by buying a cheap second hand set and using them for 6 months. It took about a month before I saw significant improvement. The stiff shaft didn't suit my lower swing speed, but they were cheap! So I sold them for what I paid and ordered a set of F9 OL with regular flex steel shafts to suit my swing speed (around 90 mph with Driver). To my dismay I was not as consistent with the F9 set. It seems that unlike the F7 set, Cobra have tinkered with lie angles and weights of the various clubs to overcome various flight patterns. I sold them for about 60% of the new price and bought a set of graphite shafted Milford SL-7 OL irons ( 29 degree 6-LW) with the proceeds. These like the F7 are the same lie angle all the way through the set. The loft of the OL Cobra is also an issue if you don't have high swing speed. The 22.5 degree 5 irons was only useful for me as a driving iron on windy days. I have been using Cobra OL hybrids ( 19,22,25) but they need a 7 irons style" hit down on the ball" method to work. Alternatively you can use conventional hybrids ( longer shafts) or hybrid irons ( Cleveland HB Launchers etc.)in the 20 -30 degree lofts to get consistent gapping distances. You need to experiment. I now have a F9 OL 19 hybrid, a Cleveland HB Launcher 24 degree and a Tour Edge E721 29 degree, then a SL-7 iron at 33 degrees through to LW. The most beneficial aspect of OL irons is that you get a wide zone of approach shot distances that you can swing all of your irons exactly the same, hopefully hitting the green more often. For me that means from 125m to 55m I use a 7 iron swing. My handicap has dropped from 24 to 13 in two years and I have broken 80 twice . I started golf at age 63, four years ago. Gapping issues are real with OL irons, possibly more so if you are a higher swing speed golfer, but the " longer " irons are an issue for slower swing players, as I discussed above. I have no problem with gap distance with 7-LW in my set. The guys on TXG channel on You Tube showed this when they tested Cobra OL irons ( cast non adjustable heads) and showed it is fixable with forged head OL clubs ( Sterling)

When I first started playing golf over 40 years ago 5 irons were a lot shorter and a 5 iron was the go to club to get you out of trouble. The modern 5 iron is a long club and average golfers are not consistent with it. The one length concept answers the need of average golfers wanting to hit consistent shots. Good golfers just don’t need these clubs and will not understand the needs of an average golfer. One length clubs are brilliant for golfers of lesser ability, new golfers starting out or senior golfers whose coordination is not what it was.

Stewart is obviously a half-decent golfer, so I guess these clubs aren't particularly aimed at him. He wants to see how I hack around the course with inconsistent hits and shanks. For mid to high handicappers I reckon these promote consistency and therefore less room for error. I've just been fitted for a set and cannot wait to get them on the course.

Absolutely Alan, I can definitely see your point. Perhaps maybe a combo set from 5-7 one length and 8-PW in a traditional progressive length would be a great fit for you!

A word of warning to potential one length customers. “For me” (and I reiterate this is my own personal experience) there is a definite swing speed cut off point where one length just doesn’t work. Age, fitness, arthritis and Covid lockdown means my swing speed has dropped considerably I now find my one length 5, 6 and 7 irons all go roughly the same distance, just different peak height and carry distances. One length is a brilliant concept, but when age or infirmity catches up with you and your swing speed drops below a certain point the longer irons just don’t work.

I have a set of Cobra F-Max one lengths and they are all the same lie angle at 62.5 degrees according to their website, and that makes sense to me. But the Radspeed one-lengths are different lie angles from club to club which I have a problem understanding if the length and setup is always the same, which I assume means ball position and distance from the ball. The PW is 62 degrees (flatter?) lie angle, and the four iron is 65 degrees (more upright). Anyone know the answer?
@kymstock1852

The explanation I heard was that Cobra found in general amateur golfers fade/ slice the "longer" irons right and hook the "shorter " irons left of target. By changing lie angles they reduce these tendencies.

The first thing I thought of was in my set the shafts are different weights. I think he said he was using the same shaft for all of the heads. That is not what cobra does so I don't think this was a good comparison.
