Jodi, you nailed it. Honda Canada prices are so high they are putting cash on the hood for several models. I’m not a fan of this type of pricing games.

How can Honda leave out LUMBAR SUPPORT on the driver's side. What, was it too much trouble to install it?

Honda styling is generic/budget & off-putting IMO. Also not a fan of any belt/chain design CVT transmission due to reliability/longevity concerns, or any direct-injection design engine that doesn't also include port-injection to prevent the carbon sludge buildup & problems that will occur down the road in a 100% GDI engine. Also, GDI turbo engines are another big problem waiting to happen on several levels - most especially the smaller displacement "economy" varieties.

As you may know, the '25 Civic, which - in sedan form, to be closely followed by the hatch - is going on sale very soon, eliminates the turbocharger. The Hybrid eliminates the CVT for a simpler direct-drive transmission (what they'll likely call "e-CVT").

Love my 2014 civic. Great review on this generation of civic. Love the style but the pricing will most likely push me to another brand like Mazda when it is time to get another car. Being a Honda ......that will be awhile yet ❤

*my only beef with Honda (having been a 1997 Prelude owner for 18 years) is that their performance version of cars never come in automatic*

One big reason is that Honda has strayed away from conventional automatics and have gone full CVT. I don't know of hardly any performance cars that come with a CVT. I don't blame them as much since regulations on more "greener" new cars with more fuel efficiency have let them to this path.

Almost all small cars have been discontinued or moved production to other countries with cheaper labor costs. I'm puzzled how Honda makes money out of this car. If you say volume, it still doesn't compare to building a bigger car like CRV.

Thanks for sharing and good review. Just like some things you have issues with, is same I I some issues with your review. I'm in northern Ontario Canada and buy from Toronto area for both our Honda and Acura products. We had 2012 civic and had no real issues and then 2016 EXT which went from 140 hp to 173 hp and cvt which we loved. The power issues are not fair because reviewers like you compare to so many others, but for real owners no issues as you learn how to drive what you have. Another thing is you mentioned awd which is good but heavier and front wheel drive can be better in winter unless you get stuck if you learn how to drive properly. In northern Ontario we never had any real problems in winter with Nokian hakka tires. We also have other vehicles for worse conditions like Ridgeline trucks and rdx and mdx type S. Another is Korean brand compared without mentioned reliability safety score, recalls and why, built quality, and why Americans/Canadians labour cost for Honda and Acura products and suppliers is why cost so much. Also Hyundai kia is far bigger company than Honda, but Honda has jets, robotics, racing in F1 at top past 3 years and we pay for that bragging rights....etc

To this day, Honda has yet to master painting of their cars. Peeling off paint anyone? Rust is another issue. I had a Honda Accord that was falling apart due to rust. Literally. Hard pass. Plus: just how reliable is the 1.5l turbo engine?
@kenhoward3512

Manufacturers sometimes have problems with paint for cars produced in a certain year (or years). You didn't state what year your rusty Accord was, or the region where you live. I live in the wet Pacific Northwest region of the U.S., and have not seen a particular problem with modern Hondas regarding either paint or rust. The turbocharged engine is going away.

Great car but very ugly looking. Any other car at the same price is far far better looking. Civic 8th generation was the BEST looking Civic. Then Honda ruined the Civic, all generations after the 8th generation are ugly ugly ugly ugly. If you are gonna pay that much money at least yo expect a good looking car

It's obviously a matter of taste, personally I find the Toyota Corolla to be the ugliest car around. The front grill on that car is horrendous.
