Yes, Roy visited Oz in ‘86 & did this spot shown on a show called Music Video hosted by Basia Bonkowski. I have it on VHS. If only this download went for another 2 seconds, you would’ve heard the final heavy handed strum to nail the finish of the song. Awesome track.

I used to buy hash from a poll tax rioter/dog on a string/white but dreadlocks guy. Known him since before pubes but he had some years on me. Let me into his house at the tender age of 15 and looked after me and my mates circa 89/90 with the best sticky Afghan black, reb leb and pollen money could buy. Made sure I wasn't ripped off by other nefarious types. Pre skunk days. He even chased a bit of brown but never once tried ripping me off or 'taxing' me. The quality smoke days are well and truly over with. I no longer live in that town anymore and very much doubt he does if he's even still drawing breath. But something I'll always carry with me from those times is Stormcock.

I first saw this on TV in New Zealand in the 80's and I only knew Roy as the guy who sang on Pink Floyd Have A Cigar, well I went to his concert and was totally blown away. I got to talk to Roy, I was asking him questions about Syd Barett as I was so into Piper at the time. Roy was so patient and kind, he listened , nodded and answered my questions

Mate - Im a kiwi myself, and just yesterday, I saw on You Tube a New Zealand TV interview of Roy from 1986. I remember watching this performance myself, and I actually thought firstly the song was called unknown soldier, and secondly I thought the performance was more in the 70s as I emigrated to London in 87, and it seemed a long time before. It wasnt until I watched the Classic Rock Legends DVD (As I write) and this song came up. I got it confused, so I decided to do a You Tube search, and it was good to see your comment here. I had only really known of Roy Harper through the Hats off to Roy Harper Zeppelin track.

@@glasgowkiwi Wow. Was this on Radio with Pictures? I thought I saw it more towards the late afternoon, early evening, and not on a Sunday night when they had RWP. If you look at the interview with Roy from 86, he looks a lot different after he cut his hair. As you worked on the TV, you might be able to answer me a couple of questions (Or know something anyway). In 1976, I saw Status Quo at Carlaw Park. Not long before, I watched Stu Dennison (Nice one Stu from Gizago) play 4 songs of Quo - Mystery Song Promo, plus Paper Plane and Dont waste my time from Marquee London 1972. They also played Roadhouse Blues rom the Marquee 72, and to this day,I have not come across anyone who has seen it (Even on Quo Facebook pages). I did though speak to an Irish guy and he said he saw a clip of Bye Bye Johnny from the 72 show on Irish TV. Would love to get a hold of it. I also watched Grunt Machine with Andy Anderson (Was that his name), and one show, also around 1976 had a special on Quo to coincide with the tour. It was mostly interviews, but I do remember they played Roll over lay down (Not live, just the promo clip). ANy info or advice you have would be great. I was a huge Quo fan in them days (Gave up after the LIve Aid as In the Army now was a total cop out for me. Cheers

shemanic1 I couldn't agree more and I'm shocked how few people ever mention his voice. Of course he is a superb guitarist and songwriter but those seem to be the two things 99% of the people comment on. Almost nobody ever talks about his voice and singing. His range is incredible and his ability to hold a note and bend it, vocally, is astounding. There is something of the sacred in his singing style. And his vocal tone and presence is completely unique. Nobody sounds or sings like him.
