Love the watch! I bought the watch and it truly lives up to its reputation. Thanks Teddy for shedding some extra light on this great time piece!

I like this retro look even better than the ubiquitous Rolex-style dive watch design clones that all brands seem to have. It's very distinctive. I also recall a comment somewhere (in response to the oversized watch trend of the 2000s) that men who fought the great wars wore 36mm watches. Watch brands should always have a smaller option, as not everyone can wear a 42mm watch without looking droll.

I like how the doomed sapphire Crystal makes the dial seems misshaped as a circle but in fact it's just the doomed glass playing with your eyes.

I always thought about getting a higher end Seiko as my first more expensive watch...but in the last few weeks this smaller Captain Cook seemed ever more appealing for just two reasons (well three considering I like the design): 1) green is my fav color and 2) the first four letters of my last name are Rado 😄

37mm has WR only 100m. My 42mm version is 300m. So 'one of the best dive watches' is a bit overstatement. More accurate it's a best watch that looks like a dive watch for a small wrist. And just to be clear: 100m doesn't mean you can actually dive to 100m with it. It means you can go deeper than a pool at your own risk.

After hearing you first mention the Rado Captain Cook in you're collaboration video with Bark & Jack, I immediately watched this video you'd done on it and trawled the net for the same champagne coloured dial, finally finding a jewellers in the UK that had it, but alas! Two days later they emailed back saying it was out of stock. I'm going to say it's your fault for endorsing it haha. It really is a great looking piece though, and love the channel!

When it comes to dive watches smaller is better IMO. I picked up a Willard homage and it wears fantastically compared to some of the other jugernauts I've tried in the past. I definately want a couple more divers in my future now but small ones. Even though I have huge wrists.

Hi Teddy, love this video. Another watch(es) in Captain Cook collection, Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic is featured in a Korean drama, "Vincenzo". Other than Rado, this drama also have lots of Hublot, Tag Heuer and Zenith. I have fun watching the drama because of those watches. Hope you can give that drama a try and try to identify those watches.

great review, as always. i own and really like this watch. two things i would've preferred: * a larger crown to make hand winding and adjusting easier. hand winding is just not practical since the bezel sticks out as far as it does. * i believe the original had a cyclops over the date window. my old ass eyes could use the magnification and it would just add to the vintage appeal.

What is it with the fascination of power reserves! It's not good for a watch movement to be charged all the times. It's an engine, do you leave your car engine on when not driving it? Of course not. Power reserve is a marketing gimmick.

I hate this small watch snobbery. The first comment under almost any watch post is "too big". Anytime a watch is larger than 39 everyone loses their freaken minds. Just because TGV has wrists of a 14 year old does not mean all watches should be infinitesimal.

Agree. I like my watches over 40mm. I almost never seen complaints about watches being too small, coz large watch folk usually don't care. But constant whining about a watch being too big is annoying af. Just check any video on new Longines Majetek for example, more than half the comments are about how huge 43mm is.
