We did that route in a much older bus in 2019. And in much worse weather. However, the scenery was great and Harrogate has lots of interesting things to do and visit. We had lunch at the iconic Betty's Tearooms. Last time we were in Leeds - about this time last year - we did a bus journey from Huddersfield to Wakefield. It was very much a commuter/shopper route, but wound its way through lots of small Yorkshire settlements/suburbs, and over some farmland and woodland. We really enjoyed it, but at 2 hours duration were glad of the toilet at the Wakefield Bus Station.

I drove for Blazefield from deregulation in the late '80's to early 200's, they were a good company to work for and were one of the first bus companies to start operating up market buses with dedicated drivers on those routes. The things at Harrogate bus station is recharging facilities for the new electrics, not just for the 36 but the Town services too! The 36 was actually the pioneer of this kind of luxury bus with better seating etc, with Transdev spreading it to other routes like the X43. IMO, Leeds has one of the best bus stations for a city of it's size in the UK. I was in Scarborough recently and took the opportunity to ride up to Whitby to get the 840 all the way to Leeds, stunning route although, at 3 hours 40 minutes, first port of call at Leeds was that loo! Followed by a quick Greggs before hanging around for 40 minutes, watching the comings and goings, including 36s (and, no, I didn't see any of the electrics either) then getting the 843 back to Scarborough, this being one of the former 36 buses, so they're being moved onto other routes.

Another great 36 route runs from Fakenham via Wells next the sea to Kings Lynn. Run by Lynx, the buses are similar to this one, very high end and comfortable, even has tables and wireless charging on it! The latter is a bit redundant though as our roads are a bit crappy! Also somewhat amusing that the buses are great like this in places where the trains aren't so good. Having been on some of Transdev's and the Burnley Bus Company's buses, as a southerner have to admit I'm a bit jealous as it's mainly Arriva where I live and they just don't seem to care!

I’m sure the local dialect will be my downfall yet again! 😂 I did have a quick look at the trains - they were about half the time and twice the price. Tbh, my train back was on the LNER Azuma as far as Leeds anyway! 👍

Most locals pronounce it Hare-wood. "Harwood" is regarded as pretentious twaddle.

@@Locknut61 Oh dear - I must mix with members of the pretentious twaddlers set! As a Teesside resident, its far too posh for the likes of us down there!

The family have tried to encourage Harwood. Maybe we're just Oiks and Yokels😊

Ah cheers Kel, I was hoping you’d be on here. I’m not a Geoff Marshall tbh so I don’t tend to get invites to anything lol, but that would be great, thanks. As I regularly demonstrate on here, I don’t know much about buses tbh but I do enjoy travelling on them and hopefully the videos are more reflective of a typical passenger experience. Id love to learn more though. WillI be in touch 😊👍
