I like old tires for this because they were laying around my land. It also protects your tools on a bad swing.

I agree. But I grew up in kind of a typical white trashy environment. So keeping old tires around bugs me a bunch. 😂 BUT i’m all for it for the wood splitting

Fk! Wish I'd known this trick sooner! I spent from the ages of about 10 years old to late 20's splitting wood either for home or as a job and would have been really handy back then! 😂

Just have to be careful and not split the rubber. I gave this idea up after the 3rd rubber bungie cord split. But it does keep you from chasing your split pieces.

I just hit the log so the smaller split piece flies onto the stack neat and tidy whilst the main part stays on the chopping block to be hit again.

the chain lets you do larger rounds, and adjust the tension of the strap.

This seems like a really fucking cool idea, until you see one of the after videos where someone misses, hits the chain, and the axe bounces and hits them, and there's blood everywhere. This is a fucking horrible idea, never swing an axe at a metal object, including a chain. Do not, ever, do this.

Thoren is a very well-groomed lumberjack with anger management issues. That said, I think he's a decent guy. Maybe a little short-sighted about what those tats are going to look like when he's 65. "It seemed like a good idea back in 2024."
