Deers in Nara are used to people. Too used that one mother (a dotted back already with antlers, not these gray colored ones) was about to poke my butt still asking for biscuits only bought there but I've given all. Good thing my niece told me to look back!

Japan's original country name NIPPON means "country under the sun," but the traditional name of the country when the capital was here in Nara was YAMATO (WA). YAMATO means "land of great harmony between people and nature." For about 1,300 years since the Emperor established the capital of Japan in Nara, deer have been traditionally cherished as messengers of the sacred gods of this island nation blessed with nature, until the present day. The deer know that humans think so from generation to generation, so even though the city has changed its appearance, the deer still feel safe and comfortable living here. Please do not be mistaken, and the risk of trouble with the deer is your own responsibility. because They are wild deer. So every foreign visitors to Nara need to be aware of the deer in Nara Park are "wild deer", not zoo deer managed by the government. Therefore, it is dangerous to touch them or treat them as if they were domesticated pets. We don't know what parasites or diseases they may carry. It is very dangerous to kiss them directly. The right way to treat them is to live with them as if they were part of the natural scenery, like watching wild birds, like the people who have lived in Nara since ancient times. There is no “Nara Deer Park.” in Japan. The correct term is “Deer in Nara Park” or “Wild deer that congregate in Nara Park.

This is so adorable and I'm so sad why some people kills these beautiful animals.

Unfortunately deer without natural predators become very overpopulated and cause damage to the ecosystem :( so hunting deer can oftentimes help the environment, as sad as it is, because their natural predators have been wiped out/run off.

I don’t view it as a sad thing. It is used for food, and most of the time when you kill the deer it is donated to a place where people are in need of food. It’s a circle of life. They are beautiful creatures but before they die they can supply a household with years full of meat.

Maybe because they're damaging the local ecosystem causing millions of other animals to suffer for it. But haha they ain't as cute as deers though so it's ok for those animals to die :3
