Are there any caverns or sinkholes in that area? I believe I heard you say the rock is sandstone so not karst topography, correct?
@MichiganRocks

Karst topography is limestone as far as I know. One of the webpages I read said that Rock House was the only true cave. The other things that were called caves were more like overhanging cliffs.

Hi, got a question. About how long/difficult is the hiking to see all the good stuff at Hocking hills? I want to go and have a wife and daughter who sometimes have hard time with difficult hiking. Thanks.
@MichiganRocks

It’s a lot of walking and it’s up and down hills. My wife’s knee hurts when she walks too much and it bothered her for a few days after as well as when we were there. Some trails are shorter than others.

Long-time subscriber of yours. I love watching your videos,and also to come up to Michigan to visit the lakes. Now I am happy to see you visiting my neck of the woods. I am only a ~20 min drive from the park, and we visit multiple times a year. Such an amazing place!

I sure would visit more often if I lived so close too. It’s incredibly beautiful. I have been told that it’s beautiful in winter and fall. What’s your favorite time of year to see the park?
@jonstaten3890
2 жыл бұрын
@@MichiganRocks It is beautiful throughout all of the seasons but I would say the most beautiful time of year is the spring/early summer. The greenery throughout the area is amazing. Winter time is also beautiful, but the trails are known to be rather slippery, requiring ice shoes at times. Glad you had a great experience here.

I just looked at the map and some pictures of Caves Beach. It's really beautiful there. I like how they've left a nice natural area along the coast, keeping the town of Swansea back from the beach.

I wonder what geological processes formed the perfect stairs all over the place? It as if Mother Nature wanted people to see all the other cool rock formations here. The rock house also seemed to have a few leaks in the roof. I’ve learned the hard way that a leaky roof can put a real damper on home ownership.
@MichiganRocks

Yeah, you would think that if the geology could form those stairs so well, then plugging a few holes in the roof shouldn't be that difficult.

@@MichiganRocks haha. Honestly whoever made those trails did do a great job of making them pretty usable by people of most ability levels without subtracting from the natural beauty.
