The pain this man must endure with all these dark memories.... I remember when he lost to Lennox Lewis. I genuinely believed he would completely go off the rails and end it all too soon. The way hes turned his life around, while still living with all these demons... truly inspirational.

How you look up for him , and connect is a blessing… the world troubles, is BS. We should take note, there is someone for you! Just turn around and train. Boxing 🥊 is a great sport… you can keep fit , and dance. But you can also find what we all have that’s survival. Take care ❤

Then thinking Mike was really crazy. Then thinking-why everybody always judging Mike. & Why don’t they just leave Mike alone. Then 5/6 yrs ago I heard him speak for the first time and was completely in Awe of this man, his character, his core, his story, his triumph, his humility, his warrior spirit, his humbleness. I think I would have crumbled like dry leaves under the weight of what Mike has endured in his lifetime. He is a special kind of person, he really is.

This is what I workout out to, I started a workout journey exactly 1 month ago. I was doing 100 push-ups a day, by randomly doing 25 reps in the morning, after work, right after I eat supper and before I go to bed. On my days off I’d just randomly get up and do my reps. I’ve been so sore lately but that’s because I realized I needed to do more, my body was too used to working out. now that I upped my reps today to 200 not thinking I’d be able to do it, I actually did it. I can’t say it gets worse, but for me it go better and I feel way better. It’s a rough start but once you get through the first week it just feels so casual.

Mike, I am inspired and I could directly relate to growing up in a household that makes you want to leave and not come back until it's time for bed. Verbal and physical abuse regularly at home and in Catholic school. My life went down hill from 13 until at 35 I crashed and burned. I'd been a heroin addict. I was able, by God's grace, to completely change eventuall finding myself in a high profile position that allowed me to help point inmates whose crimes were fueled by addiction, in a new direction. Whenever my recommendation for long term rehab was granted by the judge as an option to a state prison sentence I always felt my spirit, light as a feather and energized as I left the court room. It was what I was meant to do. It took 4 to 5 years to establish credibility with the judges but once I did of all my reports and recommendations about 80 to 85% were approved by the courts.

I'm still in the throes of addiction and I want hope but I'm just not finding it. I was the nicest looking guy in detox when I used to go in my early 20's well now in 44 and ain't looking so good or feeling very good and I never heard about anyone stopping after 25 years. I thought I had a great life ahead of me and that seems like a long past dream
@brucewalters8635

@@user-gs6dv5my4o I definitely feel you brother. I haven't forgotten. It's hard to say what it takes for each individual might be touched in a certain way by an event, an experience or a particular set of circumstances that somehow come together at the right time. Personally, I started with detoxing from large amounts of methadone and valium for 5 days. I didn't experience withdrawal symptoms until the 3rd day in. It was real rough in the begining. I had no urge to use. I was so sick and mentally/emotionally disturbed I felt almost paralyzed and afraid to leave the appt. with my wife and kids. Some guys from Narcotics Anonymous had come to see me in detox so I had a few phone numbers. I felt desperate to stay clean. Fear of the drugs and what I could lose ie. Our appt. which we did. Or the kids but didn't. I went to as many meetings as I could get to with a car that would only start sometimes. I couldn't sleep night after night my thoughts racing. All bad. At one point I was both homicidal and suicidal. I sat rocking back and forth telling my wife to call an ambulance or crises management because I don't trust myself. The phone rang. I grabbed it and it was a guy I asked to Sponsor me. He asked where I'd been. He wanted to know if I was reading, writing, talking to other recovering addicts etc. etc. He shot down all my excuses one by one. He ended with: "Anything past but is bull shit. By the time we hung up I felt at peace. I realized I was fighting myself internally about whether going to meetings and participation in other way was best for me. Even though it felt good to do what I had been doing my sick mind was still looking for a way out. Of all the chapters in the book,"What can I do?" Caught my eye. I thought it would be a way to do this stuff alone. It was like my body mind and soul were toast yet the addiction wouldn't let go easily. I spent 16 years participating in NA. It saved me and my family and I was able to find some purposes in life I was passionate about. You'd be surprised what you can get simply by attending meetings if you pay close attention to all that is read and spoken. It rubbed off on me even before I started active involvement. Yet we're all a bit different as addicts we're all the same. Blessings brother. You will find your way. Peace

I don’t mean any arrogance or disrespect with my comment coming. Without details I have a lot in common with him after digging deep in his story. Besides being white. Massive detail there. When he speaks I listen and when he cries I cry. He after all he has been through is someone to at least give a listen no matter your default assumptions like many. So negative. I’m not Allah. Not god. Who the hell am I to judge another man. I’m no fan boy. But I truly admire and am a fan of what this man represents in so many facets of life and self. To be a high level combat athlete as I was (not boasting, I’m irrelevant now) you need some level of arrogance that surpasses your humility. Mentality is huge, as we hear how Cus thought and groomed mike. Not all healthy but intention matters. He loves mike so much. So incredibly proud. Wish cus kicked it 10 years later. Mike would have avoided so much painful tribulations. How naive are so many who think he’s less intelligent because of his street lingo with a intense emotional rapid highs and lows multiplied with his lisp. Just read what the man says and you will learn a lot. I had everything (not his level lol) and lost it all. Cars. Houses. Wives. Plural yes. Drugs. Crime. Jail. Mental institutions. Dead son. Lost my other daughter. N hearing him helped me not feel sorry for myself. You either exist and die or live and move onward and UP. attitude is a habit. I got ptsd. BPD. Aspd. Bla bla bla. I made it an excuse. I ain’t my diagnosis or labels. You can be whatever you damn well want. When I didn’t know my ptsd. I did better. Funny how that works. Love to y’all. Hope people are getting something out of his pain. So it ain’t for nothin. Il end with his line, not verbatim. “It’s one small step from the limousine to the curb”. Don’t get to Cindy and cocky. Lose it allllllllllll real fuckin quick. I sure did. Mike can’t think he’s a legend but that’s fine. He must know to many he is. He should be dead or in jail or homeless high on drugs on his way to the grave. I can’t fathom that much trauma and be even remotely functional. My story is very bad and it broke me and lucky to be here. His trumps mine by multiples but he’s not functional, he’s MADE IT. N as well helping others. Mashallah mike. Alhamdoulilah. Asalaam Alaykum Peace be upon y’all. Anyone here gotta have some heart❤️💯. Much love. Salaam
