I stick a large towel in the crevasse below the airbox. That way if a screw slips out of my hand, it won't fall into the deep, dark recesses of the engine below.Good call on checking the power steering fluid. That is the 2nd most neglected service item.

Changing the air filter is such a pain on Caymans! Great video!

That old filter was still good, in my opinion. Could have maybe just used some compressed air to blow out the loose dirt.

This is exactly the same process for the 987 Boxster. Mine was dirty as hell too as I discovered when I got it home & checked it. Good video!

The best part of the video is your recommendation to check the PS fluid level. Mine was low and will necessitate a call to the dealer who did a major service 6 months ago. Thanks again!

Great videos- the angle doesn't show it but, when you insert the new filter on the receiving plastic, the new filter goes on the inside of the cars housing. I had a problem because I couldn't tell if the new filter went around the housing or in the housing. It goes inside the housing.

seems like it takes a very patient manner to change the air filter on these vehicles. Do you know if it is the same way in a Boxster?

Given the comment below from Julian, I assume it shouldn't be any easier.

Do you have to take that metal cover of to check coolant?
@caymans
5 жыл бұрын
There are two coolant caps, one under the engine cover and one in the trunk. If you just need to check the coolant level, you do not need to remove the engine cover.

thathonda guy I'm 6' 1" and have plenty room. They're way roomier than you'd think. 6' 4" shouldn't be a problem. Also all Caymans are flat 6 cylinder up until the new 718 Caymans which are 4cyl Turbo.
