My Nana has been battling terminal cancer, and in the midst of all her pain and discomfort James gave her something to look forward to every week. She LOVES Jeopardy, and when James started his winning streak she couldn't stop talking about it. For 30 minutes he took all her worries away as she was so focused on the game. So thank you for giving that to her James, it has meant a lot to me and my family. ❤️

I did some quick research, for those of you who still wonder why James' bet was what it was...or to those of you conspiratorially-minded folks! James was in what J! fans refer to as "Stratton's Dilemma"...named after contestant Ted Stratton who faced the situation in 2005 and first talked about it. Because Jay was so close to James, James could not make a bet that could both a) exceed Emma's current score of $26,800 and b) lock out Jay if Jay went all in and got FJ correct. The "solution" for a second place contestant in Stratton's Dilemma is to bite the bullet and bet just enough to lock out a successful all-in bet by Jay and hope Emma both missed and bet to lock out a successful all-in bet by James. If Emma had realized the situation, she probably would have realized she could have safely bet nothing...but James was in a dilemma...he couldn't have successfully defended that. So James did precisely what a player in Stratton's Dilemma is supposed to do. (PS For me, it was JAY'S bet that made zero sense. He should have also realized James was in Stratton's Dilemma and therefore would make no large bet that would drop him under Jay's score no matter what it was...so the best Jay could hope for was a second place finish and $2,000. Therefore Jay should have bet no more than $4,802 and probably less than that...$4,802 covers Emma's score should she bet the $20,201 she actually did and miss the question).

It's hard to believe, but I didn't learn of James until The Chase. I, myself can't believe it, but when I was made aware of him, I was in awe. There's something about his eyes that sparkle when he speaks, and his excellent poker skills give him a poker face about whether he knows each and every question. I thoroughly enjoy his pleasant attitude and he's seemingly as forthcoming. I wish he could find some niche show where he would fit, because with his sarcasm and dry humor, in addition to the intelligent and well-traveled man that he is, he'd do so well. IDK if there's media training that's involved (probably so), but he's probably already undergone a lot of direction in his achievement. Either way, I'd love to see him with his own vehicle in the entertainment industry! Love this guy's laid-back demeanor, despite such high-stakes at risk often.

I look forward to seeing James in the tournament of champions. Does anyone think he's going to steamroll his opponents then? I know the champions have the knowledge, no doubt there. But the question is, do they have the GUTS? James didn't just win big by knowing a lot of trivia, he won because he always bet big. Most Daily Doubles and Final Jeopardies, he risked most of it to all of it, bringing his score up tremendously leaving his opponents in the dust. Most contestants don't have the courage to do that EVERY SINGLE TIME but because he gambles for a living, he's used to it. Of course, in Final Jeopardy, he bet big but no more than he could afford to lose.
