So I started this series last night. wow. 1st off i've never seen the anime or read the manga. All I can do is compare this show to another I've streamed recently, Ashoka. Now I did watch clone wars and rebels so i know who she is and i know the character. This show is so much much better than Ashoka. 1st off this show has likable characters. Characters who's traits play to each others strengths and weaknesses. Luffy is likable, ultra positive, ambitious and goal oriented. Nami is smart, skilled, pragmatic, and cautious. Zoro is dark, brooding, skilled, with a deep sense of honor and morals. Koby is nerdy, mousy, but sure of his goals and motivations. Ashoka none of the characters are like their cartoon versions. none of them. One Piece is well paced. The show doesn't waste the audiences time but doesn't feel rushed like say the Avatar movie. Ashoka is BORING. its paced horrifically. it wastes the viewers time trying to strech out the viewing time. I made it 33 min in to the 1st episode and gave up. No point in continuing with something just wants to waste my time and isn't true to the source material.

The live action actor for Luffy does something really clever that is that naturally, yelling, and talking and just behaving the way Luffy does look REALLY weird on an actual human being, and what he does is not downplay it, its to make you go, “Oh… hes fucking crazy” and then all the weirdness makes perfect sense. Iñaki smiles in a way that that one kid in your neighborhood who you know is nice but absolutely batshit does and it works so well. With Zoro it took me a while because I thought his anime hyper seriousness was goofy and kind of cringy, until eventually you realize that hes not standing there trying to be cool, hes just dumb. Like there is not a thought inside this mans head, he has exactly two brain cells and they only think about swords and alcohol respectively, so hes just standing there quiet with a blank expression because hes essentially a guard dog waiting for instructions. And they never explain this. These are all impressions I got from just the acting, its fantastic.

As far as I can see it's not about having fun or being serious, what makes this live action or any show/movies great. It's about the story and content more than agendas. Whatever serious discussions a show like one piece entails, they are focused and based on the story, characters and our own self-reflection by experiencing that story and characters. It's not blatant prpreaching, it's organic. There are so many political, social, socioeconomic, historical, and many more discussions one can have with one piece but it's more nuanced, less polarized and all about the characters and the world and the commentary about different issues the author puts out with a multifaceted take on them, and letting audience explore it all through the story, perspectives and characters and Then ponder on the real life implications,. Unlike the modern day so-called "politics" which lacks nuance, highly polarized, no room for discussion or debate and everything is blatantly dropped on the audience directly irrespective of the story, characters or perspectives and it's all about Agenda and nothing else. I say such the modern day's so-called "politics" is not at all politics or social discourse but it's all about propaganda and polarization.

Do you not know what the word "slam" means? I'm saying this because this is the second video (I watched the Oda video yesterday) where in the title is "X slams Disney remakes" yet the video itself fails to show said person or people actually doing so. With the Oda video I can give you the credit of him making a comment on the industry and remakes. But even then Oda's comment does not directly state or reference Disney. Same here. All you have is Luffy's actor saying that having fun on set is key to making the show. How is that dig or slam towards Disney or anything else? And keep in mind I do agree with you on how Disney and Hollywood are going about things. Still it feels disingenuous to say the cast is slamming anything here. And that results in a waste of audience time. If you video titled "Cast Slams Disney" then I want to watch the cast, not you, them slam Disney and Hollywood. Not just one clip of them saying "oh we have fun" and you stretching that into a 9 min essay with sponsorship, repeating your feelings on the entertainment industry.

There is a youtuber called Nux Taxu(he has been cancelled I don't know how many times) and Matt and him are good friends and when Nux was watching one piece he even texted Matt to ask him about certain things and if it was on purpose. For example reason why in Zoro's flashback majority of people are black (It seems very out of place) is because there is a running joke in one piece fandom that Zoro is racist and hates black people because in anime he mainly fights darker skin people and Matt Owens finds racist Zoro funny. He also put in one of those cat people falling down the stairs because he finds Kuina's death funny and dumb. I am guessing that is why in live action they never mentioned how she died.

One Piece have a diverse cast but they arent nasty about it or braging in social media how diverse they are. Coby is woman pretending to be a man both in real life and in the series.😂😂😂😂

Uhm 2:50 Oda has very diverse characters, that actually still aligns with this? Like bro oda has written trans and drag and gay characters One Piece is not an escape to that... which I like Honestly I like the diversity

If One Piece Live Action isn't succesful, the cast and production will get backlash and cancelled from the ONE Piece Fandom... Even Eiichiro Oda would definitely disappointed with the production... Which is I wasn't wrong the director is a fan of the og...😂 It is good they felt pressured to get okay from the fans familiar with the og which is mostly universal... So the works don't be too off from original source material...

My biggest pet peeve is when new fans or old fans, criticize and crap on the original pieces that have catapulted said properties into the limelight. In any Fanbase, I am a dog collector, and people are constantly crapping on the originals now that the reboots are out.

Marvel, Star Wars & LOTR are perfect examples, they could have had it all if only they respected and continue their legacies instead of spitting into their fan base and utterly destroying their source materials by totally changing story lines, unnecessary race/gender swapping and focusing everything on Woke agendas

The politics, serious issues & social messaging should be an incidental “byproduct”. It shouldn’t be “The Product” itself. Stick to the story and the source material, don’t transform it into some political vehicle that happens to feature characters we love, but that only look like but don’t act like them, because the studio is too focused on expressing a political message. Thats what Hollywood has forgotten. They’re an industry for entertainment first and foremost. They are not an authority on morality, politics, culture, social issues etc. As an industry they’ve kind of disappeared up their own ass with their egos, political grandstanding, social justice warrior mentality and self importance. It’s evident by the drop in viewership of the Oscars, various woke-liberal shows & films, criticism of some actors on social media for their hypocrisy and ignorance, decrease on profits. They should just get back to “entertaining” rather than preaching to people.

I wouldn't have high hopes because I think the creators of the show are not involved, unlike One Piece where the creator was heavily involved and acted like guard dog over his story.

If it isn't fun to watch then why make it. One Piece is something that is just for fun and tries to keep the same spirit as the Anime.

Absolutely love One Piece, but not a big fan of the live action. Don’t hate it but not exactly hype about it. Glad it lets other people get into it though.
