I only want to work with artists who are interested in track outs or exclusives. It’s stressful when you have rappers or singers that don’t know what they are doing, browsing a beat store and assuming every MASTERED track that put up will be the actual track they are getting and don’t know the mixing and mastering side of things for their vocals. That’s why I always put “serious artists only” on my bio so they can purchase track outs and my trackout prices are considerably cheap depending on the type of beat it is “the more trendy beat it is, the more likely it could be a hit” I set a base of $100.

How do you have that much space? If I tracked out every song I've ever made it would be well over 2 Terabytes of data, I don't have any hard-drives with that much capacity.

Bruh I LITERALLY did this when I started my Airbit account back in August. Sat and exported every trackout until all my beats were zipped and backed up. It really eases the process of it all when you track as you go.

What's a good place to store your trackouts besides on the web server to your site? Google Drive paid storage? Cause I know they give 15gb default per gmail account.

Ceed 3D I keep mine split between several external hard drives in addition to the Airbit server. Multiple places where they can be easily accessed has worked well in my experience

I do; that's where the Airbit piece comes in. I upload them there for instant download purposes, then back them up on my personal drives.

Question: Should the track outs be unmixed? In case another producer needs a better mix? or should you export the mixed/mastered track outs?
@4Paczjkor

Give them both because sometimes the artists has their own engineer or they engineer themselves

How many individual stems do you have to export? Do you guys group them as drum, lead, bass, keys etc? Or do you export individual drum elements as well? That would be so many tracks.
@CurtissKingTV
6 жыл бұрын
I would export them as separate tracks. everything individually in a folder so when I enter that folder titled "Wonjun Dope Beat" I looks like "808, kick, snare, riser, keys" and so on. It makes the job easier on the mix engineer -Rah'Lee (Team Curtiss King)

A different producer advised to only sell trackouts to people who bought the exclusive license. That way, if your beat gets stolen and you go to court, it will be easier to win if you're the only one with the STEMS. Any thoughts on this? I am considering uploading my trackouts now once I get my beat store started.
@CurtissKingTV
6 жыл бұрын
I've heard this same thing before, and from my understanding, whomever is in possession of the trackouts is irrelevant if you can prove in court you have an earlier timestamp of creation. So in essence if you show proof that your trackouts were created in Jan of 2014 and the other party can't show proof that they've had it before that date, it will give you a one up when trying to prove your case.

I had a situation where I gave an artist the trackout, and the mix engineer that the artist worked with totally ruined my mix. Now, I release stems with my final mix . I'll only submit a full trackout by request and details of who does the final mix of the record.

Hey what's going on @Curtiss King TV? I had a quick question on this topic. Would you suggest sending out raw stems/track outs at 0dB? those same track outs with effects, etc at 0dB. I now there are no rules. I feel like even if a customer buy they kind of have your DNA, like your style, your sound. Any suggestions? Thanks!

@4Paczjkor

No. If you have a contract and depends on the license. But if they have exclusive rights then they the beat is in their full control but if they just have a track out you still have rights

Mehmet Davis23 it’s a WAV file of every instrument in your beat sessions that can be exported. For example if you were to export your drums, whatever you used (kick, 808, snare, hi hat, etc.) you’d have an individual file for each of those sounds. Search on KZitem for the DAW you use to find out how to export them. Most software makes it easier than ever now.

Great video; however I do disagree about keeping the price point the same. That's like Dodge charging the same amount for a Challenger demon as the rest of their vehicles. The amount of time, resources, work, etc definitely plays vital roles in the determined price. That is just a common theme among business. Car dealerships, grocery stores, etc all do this.
@vargasaidan7366

mach e just because you spend more time on a beat doesnt necessarily make it better. The value for beats is driven by the buyers appreciation for it just like any art for sale. Not the 1 ton of metal used to build an engine or the process to mine refine and mold that metal.
@CurtissKingTV
6 жыл бұрын
I agree with you 100% that other industries use this as a common pricing practice and that exclusives can vary and I'll add that the inconsistency in the leasing price from one beat to another can give the wrong message about your product. Value is in the eyes and ears of the beholder. If a rapper sees more value in a beat that took you 15 minutes as opposed to a beat that took you 3 hours, whom are we to argue with this client? In addition, I've never been a fan of price hagglers, and unfortunately being inconsistent with your pricing makes a lot of customers feel that your leasing prices are all negotiable.
