A one watch collection is the best collection. I am at a point in my watch collecting journey where i tried them all, owned Rolexes, Breitlings, Omegas etc. and just realised that this hobby is crazy, doesn't make a lot of sense, extremely addictive to the point of it being a sickness and that the entire Swiss watch industry is full of $h1T. The way I see it the more watches you have. The more diluted experience you will have with your time pieces. I've always admired the one watch guy. The piece thats been with you thru thick and thin. I believe the gshock thing is perfect for those times that ya are traveling or doing stuff that will most certainly screw the watch up to a degree. I wear my mechanicals at home or on my days off. But when i go to work, i put on my gshock. I am A ER nurse and get blood and body fluids all over my watch. A gshock can be washed off easier and doesant have a bezel for blood to get caught up in. Same for the crown. As soon as i get home, my mechanical or nice quartz goes back on. So i already sort of live this concept except that i rotate between about 4 watches at home. Lol. The Tudor Black Bay 41 is the wrong watch to do this challenge with, especially if you're going to be doing manual labor. It's a casual/sporty watch and the sub is a hardcore tool watch. Turtle case. Bought it new in 1982 ish when I got my diving certification. After years of everyday wear, daughter chewing on the rubber strap in her crib (it was clean), when she was older, hiding it in a plant for a couple of weeks until found. At least four stock straps and countless velcro ones I stopped wearing it daily when I bought my 1st SKX back in early 2000’s. Still air it out occasionally but on leather. Also, it’s beat up, runs well and never been serviced. Almost forty years old! Yikes! Have many other watches now (need to purge). Dessert Island watch for me? Stock SKX 007. I wore my Willard for well over a month when I first bought it. Think it could be my one and only watch if I wanted (but I don’t 😆).

One can be done. Purchase a GShock GW9400 and mic drop. You can wear for everything you want to do. You can go to the gym, hunting, fishing, shooting and many other things. Never have to worry about changing watches. If you have a smaller wrist get a Square.

My one watch is a cheap chinese made quartz field watch with tritium tubes. It's only 50m water resistant, but I've swam and showered with it and despite not having a screw down crown it has never suffered any water intrusion. The watch is a "Carnival Tritium" watch if you want to look it up on alibaba. I work nights and am often in almost complete darkness so it's my favorite functional watch. I think I paid $60 for it about two years ago, so if it dies, I won't be distraught. I like it better than my g-shock because at night in the dark the g-shock turns to power save, and even with power save off, sometimes the wrist flick doesn't turn the backlight on, being inconvenient and sometimes outright useless if I needed the information from the watch quickly. The Carnival actually looks nice and at least the one I have has a sapphire crystal with AR as well.

Just retired from the fire service after 30years front line service. I went out to buy my final watch, and ended up with a Tudor Heritage ranger on the bund strap.. Its my retirement watch, and it was, to me, the best looking watch. I wear it all the time, and will pass it on to my son in time. All my other watches are sold. I like having just one. If you can't live with just one watch, you just haven't found your perfect watch yet..... keep looking.

I agree 100% WEAR IT !!! If a watch sits in a box and gets no wrist time then get rid of it ! No matter the price ! You get a car to drive it , you get a guitar to play it , you buy a watch TO WEAR IT ! ( and occasionally to tell time ;)

I had a quartz Tag diver (pre aquaracer?) I bought about 25 years ago. Wore it daily for about 10 years, then gave it away. Only ever replaced the battery a couple of times, and had to bend the bracelet clasp because a GF wore it one day and managed to somehow bend it.

I buy a watch to wear, just bought a rado captain cook 42mm in green and I'm already wearing it to work.just paid £120 for the leather strap for it, and yes its going to be on my wrist 2moro at work. I do manual work , nothing too heavy but certainly not office stuff. I've been thinking a lot lately about just one watch, although I've only a smallish collection now, about 5 , it still seems rather too many. And the end of the day you only need 2 really , one for a beater and one for the weekend. But in reality it's not that simple .... Oh well.

In late 2018 early 2019, I made a commitment to myself to wear only one watch per month. I could only change the straps. It was a fantastic experience. Especially when using a new watch. It was literally like getting it back. A new stage of honeymoon

Do not do it. I have a 38 year old Rolex and wear it when I know I am not going to be banging things around. Other times I wear a sub $500 watch.

I think that a one watch is more of a mindset. I think any of us could do it, we just need to get out of the hobby. There is no perfect one watch but there are watches that could do it for you. You just have to stop looking and thinking about watches to succeed. For me I’m addicted to watches and if I wanted to get out I would have to stop the things that enable my addiction. If you are addicted to drugs and you want to change you can’t keep going to the dealers house all the time.

I have an eight watch collection and I wear all of them. I'm a helicopter mechanic and they get scratched but I have no problem with it. Why the hell did you buy the damn thing if you aren't going to wear it.

Well... Watches remember me trips that I'd been, moments that I lived with it, gifts that I received... I look to then and remember all those things... I simply just can't be a one watch guy anymore.

From 1978 to 2010, my sole watch was a Rolex Oyster Perpetual on a two tone jubilee bracelet. I acquired two more watches and spoiled my one watch collection. At my high I had 30 watches but now my collection is down to 23.

Matt M I don’t find too much rarity in the OP line, although there are references with certain features which appeal to vintage collectors more than other references.

Love the story, thanks for sharing!! I almost did that with my newly acquired Ollech & Wajs P-104, I wore it 21 days in August. I think I can wear it for a whole month, although I'm getting anxious just thinking about deciding on a watch for the month let alone actually commiting to a watch for a whole month! I love the idea of the challenge tho and I might go for it👍

I've done it periodically. I went through a phase where I got away from the collection for awhile and just wore an Apple Watch. That lasted for a few months, but just when I try to get out.....I go to a Sales Forum and they PULL me back in!! I may just wear my Monza this week in celebration of the Monza F1 race.
