very fascinating, i've been playing around with that yoko otoshi style finish in judo but always with my head all the way through with minimal success. Definitely taking notes your overhook system is impeccable.

Do you think overhooks are just as good as underhooks (if yes, why... because they're better for throws or sth. like that?)
@onejudoka
3 ай бұрын
I think they both have their advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of playing the overhook is you can scare people out of looking for unders forcing them out of their game. If they are worried about giving up overhooks they usually are more open for you to get underhooks.

Wow you are a fantastic teacher, love of the game shows through. Love the comparison to the firemans and that it solves its back exposure issues in submission grappling. Hardly ever see people show those fundamental overhook details despite how crucial they are(the hiking of the overhook and bodylock defenses. Also have never seen anyone else show this technique, reminds me of a steparound metzger I saw a couple times but easier to grab the near leg like this.

This is so good. I learnt the uchi mata takedown from the overhook but still refining it, this came right on time. I'm just halfway, not sure if he goes to Uchi Mata, if not can you have him show it another time? I actually got body locked and taken down, the guy was so much bigger than me and I was trying to hit the uchi mata... now I know how to prevent this next time.

Underhooks are good and overhooks are good. Whoever can play the position better will win. It's like saying what's better guard or passing. It all depends

I would say there is a pretty big difference. All the leg techniques judo uses are illegal in Greco. All the leg to leg attacks. The hand to leg attacks are also illegal in Greco but allowed in original judo.

Dude this was SO awesome. I’m absolutely working this with a buddy this week. I use a really underhook heavy game and want to start adding more overhook stuff so i can threaten with both.
