Recently I started noticing when I filmed indoors, the video would start to stutter after a few minutes of recording. The phone also got rather warm which indicates that it's most likely overheating as I can easily record 30 minutes or more of clips one after another outdoors with a temperature around 12C.
For this demonstration, I kept the phone in its official black flip cover that I ordered with the OnePlus One. This way it simulates a real-world scenario as most people are not going to take the phone out of its cover each time they make a video clip. I had the phone mounted on a tripod with a GorillaPod. I made two recordings one after the other in the 4K UHD mode due to the 4GB file size limit at about 8 minutes.
The main reason I record in UHD is that the video is much sharper and more detailed than 1080p on this phone even after downscaling the UHD footage to 1080p. So I film in UHD and render the edited footage in 1080p afterwards. Another advantage with filming in UHD is that I can crop the video while retaining a lot more detail than cropping a 1080p recording.
At the time of recording this footage, the room temperature was 22°C / 72°F and this phone has Android 5.0 Lollipop.
