Love that you still get serious sometimes and drop facts. You've changed so many negative views about seagulls for the better. That’s how I feel about deer. Everyone is irate about deer in the suburbs eating their bulbs and flowers. They seemed to take refuge in the furthest part of our backyard where the previous owner had clear red the trees and then only seeded partway back. Well, this year one of the last lots sold and they started construction. They leveled and removed the trees. Our deer which we saw every day, we have only seen very sporadically since. We get mad that deer are on “our” property- while 10 years ago this was a gorgeous forest, lush and teeming with creatures. We stole their home, we don’t have the right to get upset when they are still here. Where do people expect them to go?

@@Puglover130 I feel this way about a lot of animals in our area, but can't extend that to the deer. The deer in my area are not native to the state and were imported for hunting. They outcompete and outbreed the native deer and are larger, more aggressive, and more destructive.

@@kerfluffle3781 Most of our wildlife in north america are vagrant species from Asia. All this bashing of starlings for instance for many decades, but it turns out they do more good than harm. Yes they do compete with some woodpeckers for nesting sites, but they also eat more harmful pest insects than most of our native songbird species. Introduced species aren't necessarily as harmful and much of our spite is often based on outdated notions that anything introduced is bad. This is not often true.

All gulls are also extremely important to the nature and us. Not only do their droppings contain insane amount of nutrients for the soil that is distributed from their nesting habitats from the coasts into the mainland but they also eat the natural waste like carcasses and other things that would otherwise pollute the shores and cause diseases to spread. And because they are so smart and tenacious and are not afraid to approach human settlements they also dispose of tons of food waste that we humans create and dump into landfills. I can only hope that people will one day realize that all life is important, that seagull is not being a nuisance out of malice, they are just animals trying to survive and do the best they can.

@@Laridae_ i live in central Switzerland, maybe it cheers you up to know that some seagulls have migrated to smaller rivers. 🤍🍀 I love birdwatching and just about 3 months ago i saw many seagulls traveling up the streams near the river Emme coming from Aare and Rhein, something i only saw when temperatures and weather have been weird. They may not be the exact same kind but it is something happening more frequently with these extreme shifts. I also watch starlings and sparrows, they are common and thriving in my area but i think it is due to the many nature friendly farms, fields and parks nearby. I did hear of friends from other countries how their songbirds decrease, especially Germany is having very enthusiastic professionals. My home country and neighbors face understaffing and lack of funding to support birds more. Another point is the dangerously high increase in cats who can leave the houses.
