@gnayeat

@@tamere520 Not really. They only gained huge popularity in the past two or three years. Before that, no one knew what a Tanghulu was. It will probably follow the trajectories of cheese corndogs, Chicago pizza, honeycomb ice cream, and cheese back ribs which were also everywhere for a year or a two then faded away into obscurity. Our staple street food is Tteokbokki, Taiyaki, Fishcakes, Roasted Chestnuts or Hotteok. I live here so I know better.

The korean sausage/rice cake skewers are called 소떡소떡. In Roman letters that would be Sotteok Sotteok. So is for Sosiji (Sausage) or So (Cow) and Tteok is Rice Cake. They're usually served with ketchup and they're deep fried :) Thanghulu is really popular in South Korea, you can get it at any street corner. Strawberry Thanghulu is the most popular tho i would say. (In SK)

To everyone losing their minds at hearing crepe and dosa in relative proximity: She calls the dosa a dosa, then follows up with talking about the components in detail: "the crepe is so crispy and light, and the potatoes are so soft and spicy". Crepe is a completely appropriate term for the outer wrapping only, even if you're offended at the idea of calling a dosa a crepe as a whole.
