Absolutely. If this was aired today, Arkwright would have been "cancelled" and Ronnie Barker would be working in a real off-licence for the rest of his life!

See my comment in part one to find the location of Gupta's Emporium. It's one block away on the corner of Lister Ave and Clarence Ave in Doncaster. The large window is bricked up but everything matches the scene where Arkwright goes over to spy on him. The alley he walks out of on the other side of the road has a black gate now. All the alleys that run between and behind the houses are gated now, probably to keep criminals and homeless out.

In so far as people were not so paranoid those days, things were more easy going and relaxed, and adult back then, we live in a nasty, paranoid media madness driven world today - horrible. In the 1970’s we watched another sitcom which no one was offended about, just laughed at back then, look it up its on KZitem, Love Thy Neighbour !!?

73egg --- You're wrong. You were supposed to be laughing at Granville and Arkwright for their lack of understanding of other cultures. That's what the joke was about. Just randomly being racist is not funny. And that's the part that people don't understand. It's nothing to do with being PC nowadays. You didn't get offended in the 70s because you were in the majority. Think about how you would have felt if you experienced racism as a minority. This episode had a balance of jokes on both sides with the addition of Mr. Gupta making fun of Arkwright. So saying nobody was offended by racist humour in the 70s is not true, it's just in your white bubble nobody was offended. Travel the world, you'll see people aren't all that different. They just want to get on with their lives, be happy and enjoy their family and friends. No matter what they look like or what religion or colour of their skin.

If one put Granville in his Indian garb in a backward village in India, it would be a dead fit.
