Hi Brandon! You've got some great stuff here. I only play the blues in Open G (normally one-chord drone with slide), but I'm always looking for fresh ideas. I hit the mother lode of fresh ideas with you. Great channel. I subscribed. Have an awesome day, my friend.

I have a picking friend that has a messed up left hand. He uses open G tuning exclusively because of his handicap. He told me that it allows him to play a instrument while he sings his country. Iv never seen him use a slide but only open major cords with a finger. I'm going to show him your site so he might can pick up some different ideas. I know he's never figured out minor cords in open G tuning. We just don't have no one else that plays in open tuning except dobro square neck open G tuning.

@BrandonReeves

Hey buddy. I think what you're hearing is a muted kind of percussive sound with either all 3 of my fingers on my right hand or kind of an upstroke with my first finger. Maybe check out some of my other blues oriented videos and watch my right hand to see what's happening. Thanks.

Hi ! I've watched your video beeing very interested. If I tune my guitar like you've said, on an open G, will I have some little problems to stay in tune when I'll be back to the "normal" tuning (A440)? I suppose that it changes for the strings, and don't wanna have some weak strings after? Like I don't wanna have too "hard" strings too...Your tuto was very cool to watch, I've learned some things, & I play since 1979.Cool. Thanks by advance, and hope you'll got time to answer to me. Later. BYE !

How do you tune the strings though? Did I miss that bit? Are they standard EADGBE?

Having markings on the left side of the neck definitely helps and it's easy to transpose without getting confused because the neck itself is free from markings.

Sounds good, but I just don't understand the necessity of using the open tunings when you can play the same thing in standard which is what most people are proficient in and have been using since first learning, unless you're using a slide. Alternate tunings are a bit more useful for doing something that might sound different from standard.

Open G Tuning... 6th String D 5th String G 4th String D 3rd String G 2nd String B 1st String D FYI I stole a page from Keef Richards playbook and took the 6th String completely off my guitar. Also as you can see the 2nd 3rd and 4th strings are the same as standard tuning. I hope this helps. Good Luck Bruh.
