Saw him in Perth on the Northbridge cafe strip one Saturday night a few years ago. Everyone knew him & he was as extroverted as ever. Huge, charismatic personality.

It's nice what Dipper said about Crimmo right at the end of this. I'll admit I got a bit emotional about that! God bless you Crimmo, good on yer Dipper and long live the Hawthorn footy club!!

Great memories of dippers playing days in 1985 saw him play against Doug Hawkins in a preliminary final which was a great contest and play against Andrew Demetrio in the same year and won that contest easily

Mike was fairly blunt about their thuggery past when interviewing hit men like Matthews and Balme and even criticised Gary Pert for his dirty play but no mention of Dipper ending Curly Austin's career, taking out Robbie Flower in his last game or the many others he's taken out over the years. Lethal Lee must be laughing his head off they gave Dipper a brownlow and not him. To be fair though he could have easily won the Norm Smith in 87 despite being in a losing team. Fantastic performance considering Johnno almost broke his jaw in the first quarter

Tough skilled and the racism he refers to was good for his well being. We all give stick to people as right of passage and if you can take it and give it you are accepted . Well Dipper was more than accepted. He was a tough competitor .
