We covered their songs in theb70's....10 years younger. Just one druummer...me, 3 horns, & 1 guitar. And we sang Much respect. Charisma was a 5-piece singing band in the 70's, from Newark, NJ, who played our own instruments - in which I wrote, sang lead, & played drums (I'm standing 2nd from the left). The attached song is "Don't Act Surprised", which has over 4 million KZitem views, and is on all streaming sites (Amazon, Apple, Spotify, etc). Copyright 1977, David Dawkins kzitem.info/news/bejne/smmCvXh4fpSAZ4Y Peace, & please share 😎😎

Since about 1967, they been doin' what they do!!! Quincy Jones went on and on about the horn arrangement for this tune. That in itself is one of the greatest compliments any real musician could get!!!!! Lon live Koll and the motherf---ing Gang!!!!

This song is the BEST!!! I remember feeling so proud of myself at the tender age of 3, when I figured out how to flip the switch on the stereo to "phono" and press the lever on my dad's United Audio Record Player to drop that needle! Those were some good times, for sure!

Came out in the disco era but is one of the hardest hitting horn driven funk songs of all time. Ewf is my favorite band, but I imagined Kool called Maurice and said, Hey Mo, I got a new cut. Tell your Phoenix Horns on this one, hold my beer. "

Thanks for posting this. I'm a big fan of Ronald Bell (sax); the man behind many of their tunes, old and new. As a sax player, I appreciate his raw tone, his signature altissimo "A," and the Coltrane influence in his solos. Check out his solo on this clip: simple and soulful. The horns are tight!

Because they had to survive the '80 and they did it well ! Most funk bands were fading during those years while K&TG was running through the '90. other bands like Earth Wind& Fire didn't do well in the '80 (exept live shows). in the early '90 the funk came alive again and lots of bands revived themselfs since.
