J.T. and Yung Miami are City Girls, the latest addition to the Quality Control squad. During a recent visit to MASS APPEAL HQ, we discovered that these two are so close they finish each other’s sentences. “We grew up together,” says Yung Miami, who hails from Opa Locka. “And was popular,” adds J.T., who came up in Liberty City. “Hood popular,” Yung Miami clarifies. “Always in the hood, always the topic.” The X-rated content and unapologetic get-money mindset on the duo’s new ‘Period’ mixtape has earned comparisons to Trina-with good reason. “My mom was friendly with Trina and Trick Daddy,” Yung Miami reveals. “And her baby daddy was really close friends with Rick Ross.” J.T. never imagined a career in music: “Oh no, I didn’t wanna be no rapper,” she says. But Yung Miami reasoned that hip hop was her best bet of achieving the kind of lifestyle she saw Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim living on social media. They sold out their first show at a Miami strip club, based on 100% hood support, and Coach K soon offered them a deal. The rest is history-Period!
