I wan't to see Chamath's face when his bank announces that his account's ground truth is now an AI agent and not a transaction log. Also, CoT is how langchain & co got popular, you guys had it on the pod couple of month's ago. It's just a native implementation of that now. While cool, it was a catch-up from OpenAI not an innovation.
@sanesanyo
10 сағат бұрын
I would disagree. This is still an innovation because we have now figured that there is a scaling law for runtime as well which means if we throw more compute at run time we get linearly better results. This means we can get gains in model quality by scaling the foundational model & then we can improve them further at runtime by scaling compute again. Also CoT used in o1 preview is a little different as they fine tuned a reward model which is trained to find the correct reasoning trace out of multiple CoT simulations.
@tallic14
10 сағат бұрын
@@sanesanyo You are not wrong. I would expect incremental improvements and better theoretical understanding after approx 1.5yrs. However, from a user perspective, nothing really changed since back then. It's not a new method but an improved technique we already knew off and instead of running it in a crude terminal it's now embedded into ChatGpt. Guess my point is that, back then when it started, lots of hype was built up around agents and planning. While useful, they were still limited up to the point where the extra wait time does not make sense. I already turned it off in my ChatGpt because I tend to ask multiple simple questions which does not warrant extra wait time. But hey, happy if people enjoy the new feature.

It's not the hand-made artisan stuff people want. What they want is high quality and high performance. But these are expensive, which means low volume, which means automation is less economical. So the value is not in being hand-made, it's just the consequence of low volume production. With intelligent robots even unique items could be made without a single human touch, and the quality will be even higher.

Once you replay workflows with AI agents, it's likely the AI will find the workflow itself was poorly optimised. Once workflows are either refactored with AI in mind or designed for automation in the first place, there's maybe up to an orders of magnitude improvement in efficiency in not having to make it comprehensible and actionable by human meatsacks.

Try telling your auditor that an agent pulled together your 10k, or an employee that their paycheck was handled by an AI agent. "Well, across the company payroll was 98% accurate." Thank you for identifying Joe Rogan. I never watch TV. I only know him from his podcasts. He's always sitting down. He always wears headphones. I didn't recognize him. Comment: People underestimate Senator Kennedy. He's a lot smarter than they realize. Comment: I grew up with the threat of nuclear war. I saw historic documentaries showing the horror of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I saw reports of the devastating effects from the Chernobyl explosion on children and wildlife. I read the book On The Beach for a perspective of "what if?" If we have a nuclear war the ones pushing the buttons know what will happen. Maybe they think it's noble to die in a safe bunker while the rest of us die from radiation poisoning. I can't understand the thought processes of people who even consider doing this. My life is precious to me. I am angry that they are so cavalier with it.

32:20 This line of logic is falling into the "it's just a CRUD app" fallacy that commonly gets directed at the enterprise companies that maintain these systems of record. The business processes surrounding them are not trivial and there are major infrastructural hurdles that would prevent these computing intensive agents from being implemented at scale. Especially in sectors like gov, healthcare, or any data that has complicated governance standards surrounding it. These agents are also more computing intensive and will require dev maintenance as well. What happens if the agent is broken? Is OpenAI/Google/AWS going to fix it? Absolutely not. It will go to a contractor or enterprise vendor who has employees they call forward deployed engineers or implementation consultants and the cycle of shit software continues.
@ivanklimovich6656
17 сағат бұрын
True, but each stakeholder will have their own area of responsibility and a separate ai that monitors the whole system will help identify whose agent is shitting the bed and notify the steak holder. Interesting bit regarding analysis of data though. Let’s say I have a daily report which i created in excel. Let’s say I schedule a report to be updated daily in the morning. Will AI generate slightly different report for all of us? (Let’s say 200 people open report daily) will colors change, will once in a while hallucination happen and 200 people look at some crazy numbers. I’m not even going to mention disconnect that 200 people each prompting corporate dwh and then meeting just to figure out that the definition of daily active users between 2 prompts was different. So as teams we will potentially go from “How do we reach our goal?” mode of work to “the goal is 95% reached now let’s debug the remaining 5%” mode. Still very powerful in many scenarios, however, it is impressive how AI is either 100% accurate or it creates a whole new bunch of problems.

Once a week, for 6 weeks, I asked ChatGPT amd MSFT Copilot two questions: (1) who [insert my name] is, and (2) what [insert my name]'s positions are on image change policy. Each of the responses I got from ChatGPT were VERY different from one week to the next, and--without exception--totally bizarre. I don't mean "insane" in that they all misrepresented my background and positions. 3 ChatGPT presented my positions as the exact opposite of what they are. The other 3 ChatGPT credited me with appointments and positions with very important advisory bodies that I would love to be associated with--but never have. So WAY off base in opposite directions. The MSFT Copilot responses were much more rational. What are we supposed to take away from that experiment?

You can’t then on the same program call Rogan Alex Jones and try to imply there is nothing mean spirited in that nick name. I’m not here to protect Rogan talk all the 💩 you want just have the balls to call it what it is.

The idea of agents replacing systems of record is just that: an idea. Need to see at least one example of it in production at scale before people should start freaking out.

Glasses like a cellphone is still something you have to keep track of or it gets lost. To include, AR glasses has to have a watch? Now you have two things to charge, put on, or lose. I don’t think AR everyday will be a market game changer. I can see it as an accessory to your cellphone. Specific applications, team meetings/zoom calls in an airport or restaurant without opening a laptop or pad. Gaming from your phone because you phone would have more processing speed to name a few. You will also have to justify the cost as a business tool or a cool toy. People buy contacts for a reason 🤷♂️ the iwatch hasn’t exactly taken off. It’s cool for text and paying for things. Paying for things with your watch even looks uncomfortable.

The one warning with regard to AI applications, make sure the Ts&Cs specify that you own any prompts and outputs (as well as all intermediate steps) and that none of these will be reused as training data. If the Ts&Cs don't specify this, then anything you input may (read - probably will) lose confidentiality

Microsoft Tablet did not work is because that many other Microsoft department wanted to add their stuff into the Tablet essentially made in into a mini-PC and killed the significance of a "Tablet". This is my friend told me while he was one of the original crew members of Tablet.
