Fun fact: Hunted Bonebrute DOES NOT TRIGGER the dog tokens if you put it into the battlefield as a 2/2 Face Down card.

That's right, when it's face down, it doesn't trigger any ETB effects (or have any other abilities on the card). Turning it face up is not the same as entering the battlefield, so any ETB effects of that card won't trigger. The problem is it's also much slower.

@@gameschooldadMTG I have found that, so many times, people look at a 2/2 and go: Whatever, I will let it hit me. I'm more worried about that 4/4 he's got. So once it's unblocked I throw away the disguise so it hits them for 6 damage. Sure, the next turn it's as good as dead, but by then it's made an impact.

I have been following your videos. And am very happy to have started drafting, it's more fun and i am getting more cards than i did when i only bought packs. However, what you just said makes no sense. You had 63% of the cards after playing only 6 drafts? That's not possible. Each draft gives you 45 cards. 45*6 = 270 out of 1096 cards. Yes i am aware that the number on arena indicates the unique cards not the total. So there is no real way to compare, but to compare my own experience, i played 8 drafts, that's 360 cards and i had around 50% of unique cards. After opening 40 packs. i have 73% and 43% of actual total. Again i am quite happy with that, and that is way more than if i bought packs. But it is nowhere close to what you are showing in this video.

Out of my 270+ cards, 174 of them were unique. After opening the packs and using a couple of wildcards, I've now got 97% singles completion and 72% playset completion for the set. Like you said it's hard to compare with someone else's experience, but it doesn't seem like my results are impossible at all. It's good to hear that you've found my videos helpful and you're getting even better value by trying drafting :)

Any thoughts on the idea of using up your common wildcards before opening packs to convert them towards more vault progress? Vault isn't great, but not a ton of use for common wildcards typically. Also, nice results when drafting! I wish I liked this set but I just can't get into morph (didn't like it in Khans either). Debating even saving the token for the next set.
@gameschooldadMTG

For me I could use my 60 spare common wildcards to get at most an extra 6% vault progress towards getting 3 meaningful wildcards in return, which is effectively saying 333 common wildcards swap for a rare. If I had hundreds and nothing to do with them I might convert them, but the exchange rate is 💩 no matter what.

@@hadesxz this guy has a ton of videos on the MTGA economy. From my understanding, if you understand the quick draft system and can consistently win most of your games in that format, that is the fastest way to build your collection. If you aren't good at it or just can't be bothered, just use gems on the mastery pass and save gold for mass pack buys.

@@gameschooldadMTG Good to know! I'm sitting at 30 packs currently after about 5 drafts. I'll convert all my gold and gems (minus the gem cost of next seasons pass) after I hit that 10 draft threshold. I thought I was way behind after seeing you hit 100 packs after 6 drafts 😅

Loved the video! Your channel has really helped me fill out my collection and gotten me started drafting. I haven't paid a single cent and I have multiple in-meta decks to play! As for 36:34, Karn's Sylex specifically affects casting spells and activated abilities (i.e., those with a colon in the rules text), meaning that Ward, as a triggered ability, is completely unaffected.

Thanks for the comment. That was my understanding of Karn's Sylex too, but I'm sure I saw someone else say they couldn't target something and that was the only interaction they could put it down to.

Man, Karlov's manor has been an abysmal format for me, same old same old. Perfectly curved out into Niv at turn5 the last 2 games, trying to have fun... and opponent immediately clears the board both times. 45% winrate... Rough. Way too many bombs.

Isn't more rares in packs actually bad for your win rate, because you are doing rare drafting and miss good cards for deck?
@pointyheadYT
7 ай бұрын
Yes it is. Missing that important uncommon can decide one or two games sometimes... but in practice, what I found is that decks with a good core of uncommons/commons will perform good no matter what. Those 2-3 useless rares you take won't make that much of a difference. So, unless its a super good uncommon, I'd say just raredraft. Another thing, if you raredraft 20+ times you're going to eventually collect all the terrible rares (have 4x copies of them). At that point you won't need to raredraft anymore anyway and are free to take the actual best card in the pack. It's a question of how much gems/gold you're willing to invest.

@@pointyheadYT I don't play standard so I don't care about Manor collection at all. I need wild cards for timeless so for me is better to have good deck and win more packs. I rare drafted only Leyline and super late as you say. My win rate was pretty high in this set. I don't play it any more now.

@@czajda Yeah, I've heard someone else say the same thing. Players who focus on historic or timeless will care more about wildcards. So the choice for them is either buying packs or premdrafts. High winrate in premdrafts is hard to achieve, so the other guy preferred just outright buying packs. In my oppinion aswell, it might be best to just buy packs if you only care about wildcard.

There's no need to be scared to start, as soon as you gather 10k+gold I'd start quickdrafting. Just try to keep about 6k gold in reserve in case a random token shows up in store. The value-to-investment ratio is the best for quickdrafts currently, since you're getting 7+ rares on average for each 5000gold spent. Even going 0-3 each time, thats still more value than just buying packs (unless you care about wildcards). If you've gathered all Jump-in packs and want to try completing your collection, there's really no better option than drafts. (By the way, the quickdraft for Karlov's Manor will be back in about 2months, you can gather a lot of gold to try it out till then) Earnings from dailies come to about 70-80k gold every 2months, if you don't forget to complete at least the first 4 wins each day + 500gold missions. 80k gold is enough for 16 quickdrafts or 8 premdrafts and if you've got a winrate above 55% you can easily add on another 10 or so drafts on top of that... (My rule of thumb is that, with mastery pass enabled, about 25-30 quickdrafts are enough to complete your entire rares collection each set) Also, if you have a high winrate (55-60%) then just go for premdrafts, the gem payout is much better if you can consistently get to 3 wins. Some sets you'll be getting pummeled and some sets you'll sweep everyone. There's no real way to tell, at least that I know of, whether you'll do good in a set or not. So just try it out first.
