A quick organizing tip for those who use the Ravelry stash feature. I also worry about my yarn getting separated from its labels. So now, when entering items into my stash, I make sure to include at least two photos: one each of the skein / ball and its label. I try to make sure that the photo of the label clearly shows the brand, the color name (or number), and any information about the dye lot. That way, if I come across a random label, it’s easy to figure out what the yarn looks like (or vice versa). This takes slightly more work in the short run, but has prevented headaches in the long run.

Can't you just input that information into your Ravelry stash when you make an entry for the yarn? It provides an option for listing dye lot and info on the yarn label. Maybe it's easier for you to take a picture?
@soolee8747
Ай бұрын
@@Lisa_Flowers Sure! I do enter that information on Ravelry, but it still helps me to have a visual for two reasons. Your mileage may vary, of course. First, when trying to reunite a separated yarn and label, I'm more efficient when I know what the thing I'm searching for looks like. Second, having a photo means I have accurate information about a particular yarn even if I make a typo while entering color / dyelot numbers into Ravelry. (Which doesn't happen a lot, but still occurs every now and then.)

That yarn store party idea is amazing, you'd have the opportunity to bring yarn to people that didn't know about those small businesses or companies previously. Taking it a step further, you could throw a couple yarn store parties like bringing east coast dyers/yarn to a west coast party and vice versa.

When you asked if viewers had ever found some yarn grouped together, and wondered what the original purpose was, I had to laugh... yeah, that happened so often I had to do something about it. Now when I order yarn online, if there's a comment section on the order form, I'll put right in there what project I intend it for. There have been too many times I've gotten a package (even if it's only a few days later!) and just stared at it blankly because I don't remember what great inspiration had hit me at 2 a.m. when I ordered it. And now I go one step further: I put the yarn in a ziploc with a note with either the name of the pattern or even a printout, and they're stored on a shelf unit in my dining room. It's sort of a visual representation of my Ravelry queue, and it helps me keep on track by reminding me that I already have about 20 projects queued up with yarn on hand, and do I REALLY need more? (although sometimes the answer to that is still yes!)

Hello! I just really want to recommend some yarn stores in South Dakota (I’m pretty sure you haven’t been there yet) Prairie Road Yarn in Sioux Falls, SD SlipKnits in Rapid City, SD Ewe Knit It in Yankton, SD I’m sure there are sooo many more just wanted to share some that I know of. Here is another one that is in Iowa that I really enjoyed. Growing Up Lulu Fiber Arts in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa I am so happy to watch your videos and you have truly been a wonderful inspirational and motivating person for me. Especially on the hard days and there have been so many in the last month after 2 family members passing. I truly am glad that I can pick up my phone and watch a video to bring a smile back to my face. Thankyou for just being you!!

Hi Natalie, You almost need to include a little note to yourself as to the project you have in mind for a yarn grouping you're sending home. An index card mini inventory list of included yarns might help too. You could knit fingerless mitts to match back to your beanies. I was really into knitting fingerless mitts before I decided to master socks. I could make a complete pair of mitts with 1 - 50g skein so, I have a few single skeins that I'm using to learn to knit short versions of socks with. I can't wait to get to the point where I can finally look for some prettier sock yarns to knit up. Lol! ✌️💜🧶🧦

I suspect you have already left to go back out on the road, but I was thinking about your hexi blanket. You should see if you can create a digital diagram of it so that you can identify how many more hexagons you need to complete it. This will make it easier as you go to those last 24 states. It might help you choose to buy or pass on yarn, based on the remaining hexagons you still have to purchase yarn for.
