Hi! I don't know if you answer to comments but I'll still try to ask heh I tried using multiply on a layer over my color layer, but I never really use multiply with 100% opacity in general, but here, even when playing with the opacity of the multiply layer through the X-sheet, when I go for the preview, it stays at 100% opacity (same for my overlay layer), I was wondering what it is I am doing wrong and how to actually change the opacity of my effects layers (adding a transparency effect didn't work as it made the whole canvas transparent and not just the places I drew on)

Thanks for your instructive tutorial. Please how do you manage to upload the pictures with a transparent (checkered) background? Do the image files need to be in a specific format(.svg, .png)? And actually when I upload .svg files they come colorless(gray)... That will be amazing if you can help me. Thanks very much.

Same here, the background is gray. Try swithcing to 3D view to see if it's there; or import into Inkscape first.

This is a two year video but maybe i can find a solution here. My fx effects work when I'm IN open toonz at the time I apply it. If i save, exit and reenter, the fx effect will still be there, for example, blur, but it wont show on the main screen. Not even when I hit preview. It's like i have to add the same effect but a new version of it every time I re enter Open toonz if I want to see my fx effetcs applied. am i doing something wrong? ive detached and reatached the same blur effect and it doenst show in preview, only when i just create a new one

Set up two columns with backgrounds. Stretch each down in the xsheet for however many frames. The lower one, Col1, just sits. (Animate position, scale if you like.) For Col2 in FX, insert a effect: Layer_Blending / Transparency. It should be "wired" between the Col2 node and the xsheet node. Transparency is same as alpha in most image/video software except working backwards, 0=opaque, 100%=clear. Double click on this new FX node to pop up settings. With the desired time to start fading chosen by selecting a row in the xsheet or function editor, set transparency to 100 and click the key button (a 45-deg square in OpenToonz 1.7.x) Choose a later time, set transparency to 0 (opaque) and key that. That should do it! (I hope I didn't leave out anything important.)

You've probably skipped Lesson 10, in which we needed to do this (not that it is explained in detail there, so don' try to figure it out from lesson10). First download a Vector graphic image from pixabay.com, then import it in Inkscape, then separate all the objects like sky, grass, tree trunk etc (they must not touch each other); then select and export each separate part (not all together!) as png into your folder. Then from that folder import all these separate images into Opentoonz. As you seee in TJs video, he has several columns with separate parts of the image, which means he didn't do it in Opentoonz, these images were already imported separated.

Yes, you can record the audio in an external program like Audacity, then export it as a .wav file. Drag and drop that .wav into an opentoonz column in the xsheet. If you want to use .mp3 files, you will need to configure OpenToonz to work with FFmpeg installed on your computer.
