Simone Kermes. It is amazing that she has portrayed the Queen of the Night, Fiordiligi, Donna Anna, Rosalinde, Lucia, Gilda and Alcina to name a few. There is no one like her on the classical music scene. She’s larger than life, unpredictable, pushes the boundaries in style and performance, and is utterly fearless. I saw her in Sydney in a concert called Fearless Baroque with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra. She was indeed fearless.

Puedo decir que este concierto estuvo muy bueno, pero me impresionó muchísimo y en gran manera que he repetido en diferentes ocasiones la interpretación del aria de L. Vinci, interpretada por la soprano Simone Kermes

Dear Life is Good, thank you very much for your hint. We are indeed not listening to the aria "Cruda sorte amor tiranno" from the opera "L' Italiana in Algeri" but to the aria "Amici in ogni evento m'affido a voi". We are very sorry for that mistake. Your DW Classical Music team

Top notch performances by everyone with one or two notable exceptions. I really enjoyed this. The insertions of a couple of jazz numbers did zero to enhance my enjoyment of the evening. Does opera get any further away from some guy noodling away on a trumpet -- I can't think of anything at the moment. I have a very wide/eclectic appreciation of music -- from opera to rock and roll and country. Much of jazz is improvisational, known vocally as scat, ('a la' Ella Fitzgerald, who I love because of her voice). Things are made up on the fly and so arbitrary -- I simply cannot get into it. To me it's about musicians indulging themselves in whatever moves them in the moment --- the composer becomes irrelevant even though the 'jazz cats' repeat the 'theme' of the original music. So sorry -- I cannot get into the same head-space they are in while they go off on their own musical journey. Why even have music written by someone if it gets discarded for their own 'in the moment' reverie? The beauty of opera is that it transports me to a different place and time and the sheer beauty of the music moves me. And then there's jazz which does neither of those things but can get some to tapping their toes and 'grooving' -- you know like 'hep cats'.

Eeshh! Could also be billed as vibrato exhibition. Several singers seemed stiff and possibly singing a piece not in their repertoire. Opera does not have to sound and look like this.

Come on, opera snob! The overall quality was excellent, with a variety of interesting voices. This was a benefit, with the performers waiving their usual fees. I used to be a music snob. I have had a lot of musical training. However, at 63, I am just drinking it all in, and truly enjoying music. Bravo to this performance and Opern Bonn for their dedication to philanthropy!

Sehr traurig. Schlechte Sänger, schlechte Technik, kein gutes Material. Noch nie so einen verstümmelten Mozart gehört..
