I literally cried when I explored this area because of the music, scenery, and Venat’s words, “Lands that stretched on forever. Skies one could drown in. The heartbeat of nature, silent yet strong. And amidst it all a people. Beacons of light and life. Laughter that warmed my heart like naught else before. They are my meaning and my purpose. My love.”

You know why this theme feels like home? It's because large parts of it are quoted verbatim from Endwalker's "Spoken Without End", which plays mostly when you're with your Scion friends in the Baldesion Annex. The flutes at 3:33 are quoting Spoken Without End almost exactly. This is genius, because your experience with this music is that you have previously heard it only in an entirely safe space. Of COURSE it feels warm and gentle and embracing. What a way to carry themes forward between expansions!

Legitimately, the first time my fiance and I entered the zone I turned to them and went "I'm sorry did we just somehow end up in Skies of Arcadia?" because this song truly evokes the same sort of feel of the theme for the jungle / LatAm inspired Kingdom of Ixa'Taka from that game. And the theme for Ixa'Taka is my favorite song from that OST, so I was thrilled.

I spent hours in Urqopacha just mining, because I enjoyed that day theme so much. It's just so... warm, cozy, majestic, like the music is wrapping a warm wool scarf around your neck and patting you on the head on your way. Possibly one of the best mountain zones I've witnessed in games because of it.

Great commentary, as always! I really enjoyed the night theme in this zone too. I think I've fallen asleep to it multiple times now lol... I find it quite relaxing. An interesting thing here, listening to this theme more closely as you broke it down now and as I wasn't having my own gameplay actively distracting me, I almost hear some similar note progressions to Chrono Trigger's Zeal theme, and the instrumentation here is somewhat similar to that as well. I wonder if that was deliberate.

I remember loading up the benchmark and this theme suddenly came on during a moment showing off the gathering classes and then panned to another spot in the zone and I fell in love with the song back then. Come game launch I decided to make Urqopacha the first zone to visit and I was so glad because i was greeted with the same theme and was in love all over again. Gathering in this zone will never get boring because of how good the music is.

there's been a few times where i've gone "man this makes me feel like i'm playing (x) game with some of this music and i love it" because of what it reminds me of. Urqopacha really does remind me of Ar tonelico's map areas (or perhaps some of the areas in Ar nosurge) because they use a flute or pan flute in a lot of the music. Urqopacha was definitely one of my fave areas though, it's such a nice chill area to be in.

When you point out launching into the Dawntrail motif at 4:04, that sound reminds me of something else as a listener of the FF16 OST. Specifically, particular notes in the theme "Cascade" from the Rising Tide DLC. Except in the latter, the notes are instead sung by a young male vocalist, rather than an instrumental like it is with the Urqopacha day theme

This is hands-down my FAVORITE Dawntrail zone, and it's REALLY hard to beat Shaaloani (the first part anyway). I just love mountain zones so much. Kun-Lai Summit in WoW, based off of Nepal and Tibet, was a non-skippable zone for me no matter how many times I leveled just because of the music and the scenery, and XIV has topped it with its Andes-inspired Urqopacha. The pipes in the music are perfect, and the VISTAS.

Aside from the composition the production of the tracks in terms of sound quality is very good this expansion
@Tohlemiach
2 ай бұрын
Man, it’s hard to say this without sounding rude, but even the very track in this video has the same mid-2000’s production quality as everything else Soken has ever done, so if the rest of the expansion sounds anything like this, then no, I think you’d be very wrong in that assessment. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying PS2 quality music, like plenty of games from that era have incredible and classic sounds, but to say that that represents “quality” production in 2024 when the likes of FFVII Rebirth is being produced at the same company is just patently insane. Let’s at least try to keep our terms straight if we could.

Music in DT is 10/10, though I did feel a couple of tracks felt out of place(they were still bangers so I don't have a problem with them). New fights feel good, new skills are satisfying, world building is good, but I think the story was lacking. It was a solid story, but I wouldn't give it higher than a 7/10, which compared with the last two expansions was a big drop for me.
