About Operation Health:
As announced during the Six Invitational, game health is our priority. To achieve this goal we took the decision to fully dedicate the next three months to improving our game. This means pushing back our season set in Hong Kong and launching instead, Operation Health.
Operation Health is all about fixing several issues and investing in better technology to make sure we keep growing strong in the upcoming years.
Operation Health will follow a much more iterative pace and new deployment philosophy in three steps ensuring we gradually inject new developments. For instance, the One Step Matchmaking will be released first on the Technical Test Server (TTS), then on PC and finally, when ready, on Xbox One and PS4.
With Operation Health pushing back our season set in Hong Kong, we needed to rethink our Year 2 Roadmap. Hong Kong will be released in August as part of Season Three and South Korea in November during Season Four. While Poland no longer has a dedicated season, our GROM Operators will be released at the start of Season Three and Four.
Finally, we have decided to reduce the number of new maps to three this year (including the released map set in Spain) to truly prioritize our game’s health.
During Operation Health, we will post frequent reports detailing what new tech we are implementing, the content of the next update, bug fixes that were pushed, and so on. We invite you to follow our progress and to participate in our upcoming control quality checks on the TTS.
For more information on Operation Health, make sure to tune in during the Pro League finals on May 21st for a full panel discussion. We have anticipated some of the questions you may have.
As with the previous phase, we have enabled access to all players that own Rainbow Six Siege on PC. This includes both Steam and Uplay PC versions. For help on how to participate in the TTS as a Steam owner, click here.
The TTS will be available starting on Thursday, June 1st, at 1:00pm EDT and will end on Friday, June 2nd at 4:00pm EDT.
The following Data Centers will be available for this phase of the TTS:
Central US
West Europe
South Brazil
East Asia
Deployment Schedule
With this week’s test, we mark the beginning of Patch 2.2.1 testing on the TTS. That being said, please note that this week's test is not the complete build.
Our current intention is to have the 2.2.1 build done with testing and deployed to PC on June 6th. The PC deployment will be followed by PlayStation 4 and Xbox One deployments in the weeks following. We do not have a final confirmed date for the console deployment, as we may need to perform additional adjustments prior to deployment on consoles.
One Step Matchmaking
One Step Matchmaking introduces many new menu and online flows that we would gladly have you try to break to make sure we are solid at launch. One feature that One Step Matchmaking will allow us to implement is Interactive Matchmaking. This will test the process of changing loadouts while matchmaking a game. Please let us know what you think!
Hit Boxes
We are working on further testing the improved hit boxes. In this phase of the TTS, you will see the progress of our work on restructuring of the hitboxes for all our operators presently in the game. The goal is to make it so that everything that is not part of what we would expect to be the human body of the operators (extended pieces of clothing, pouches, earmuffs, bags, accessories, you name it) will not be part of the hitboxes.
This not only balances several operators, but it allows for greater creative freedom for our artists when designing future operators. Test it out and leave your feedback.
Alpha Packs
You read that correctly. Alpha Packs will be available for public testing for the first time! You will be able to access the Alpha Pack interface from the Alpha Pack icon in the Main Menu.
We are looking for your feedback on the flow for Alpha Packs. Was it fairly straightforward how they work? Did you encounter any issues (not getting Legendary gear in every Alpha Pack is intended)? Please let us know!
*Please note that rarity values and some items are placeholders. Alpha Packs are still a work in progress, and changes may occur between what you see on the TTS and what you see in the live build.
Spawn Killing
As noted in the Operation Health Priorities list, we have been working on reducing the number of places where spawn killing is possible. You will see a few of the spots that have been fixed on Chalet, Kanal, and Consulate. We still have more work being done on this front, so we aren’t finished yet!
