Another tip for Nalgene's and water bottles in general during cold / freezing temperatures is to flip them upside down in the pouches. It'll keep the drinking spout clear if the water starts to freeze a bit.

Thanks, I still have a lot to learn about video filming and editing, but I'm certainly doing my best to produce ever better quality content.

They certainly do; thanks for watching. I also just posted a new video you may enjoy on my pack set up, going a little more in depth than this one. Though some of my film was lost during editing, so I may not have gotten to everything. If there's something you'd like me to go more in depth on, let me know and I'll gladly make another video.

I like the colored coded dry sacks. Good idea.

After a while, it got too frustrating to pull out the wrong dry sack when looking for what I needed, so I had to come up with a foolproof solution. I also use a sharpie to label my dry sacks, but the color coding makes it a lot more convenient, especially in low light.

I've got the overload also... with the daypack lid and the hitchhiker.. how much does all your gear and the backpack weight?
@Modern_Warrior_School
Жыл бұрын
Mine weighs roughly 40lbs, though it used to be over 80lbs, but I've been slimming it down over the last few years. I had the hitchhiker on mine too, but felt that it made my pack system too bulky and made me more likely to fill it with stuff I didn't really need. Once I upgrade my sleep system, tarp and a few other things, I expect my pack to be about 30-35lbs.

@@Modern_Warrior_School Exactly... I am trying to get my pack weight down as well... I like having the compatibility with the extra space... and the modularity... so the gear I use most is in the daypack lid. I use that as an everyday carry... or I switch over to the hitchhiker if I need a little bit more extra space.. the main OVERLOAD pack I use for heavy sleep system, one set of extra clothes, and long term ''survival'' gear. Every so often I go through the pack trying to shed weight... as I use it I find out what I really don't need... LoL

@@MarilynMonroeFamily I do the same as far as keeping my Overload as a sustainment pack and using my Daypack Lid for most of my "mission essentials'. And I'm constantly changing things to lower the weight without sacrificing functionality. I'll be changing out my GI sleep system with a 10° ultralight quilt and a RAB bivy (probably the Alpine). If you're interested, I'll post an update video and go more in depth with why I chose each component and what I may upgrade to for weight savings. And speaking of the Daypack, I'm actually in the testing phase for a new pack design I'm sending to Mystery Ranch as an improvement over some features of the Daypack Lid. I'll definitely share details as I'm able to, but my design includes a new folding frame that keeps it stable when being used as a standalone pack and a few other proprietary design elements that allow it to be better used as a short duration assault pack.

For the sake of video SEO, it may benefit you to edit your title to add the specific pack name. For example “ Operations pack overview- Mystery ranch Overload”

Thanks for the tip. I'll certainly do that from now on. Any other advice? I still have a lot to learn and am constantly trying to improve.

Man, I'll just stick with my U.S. Marine ILBE
@Modern_Warrior_School

Nothing wrong with that. The ILBE was a great pack. I'm a bit of a backpack collector and gear whore though and Mystery Ranch is definitely my favorite manufacturer. But I understand that most people aren't willing to drop $700+ on a pack.

Both are used by the USMC. They were just designed for different purposes. I think this one was for snipers or like light 50bmg dudes.
