Randi was the truth and a real life badass. He led a tremendously fascinating life and even embarrassed the scientific community by hoaxing his own fake psychic and fooling a lot of credible people to make a point when ESP and the like was a popular thing. His point was to illustrate that even the best scientists can be fooled by magic tricks. The man never graduated high school but he was a genuine genius.

In 1989, Hydrick was sentenced to 17 years for molesting five boys in Huntington Beach, California.[13] After serving his sentence, he was remanded to Atascadero State Hospital for treatment under the state's sexually violent predator law. He now resides at the Coalinga State Hospital.[5][14] Hydrick petitioned for release in May 2013, but a trial resulted in a hung jury.[5]

The perpetually dim and chronicly simple will always be grateful for the few moments of truth and enlightenment that the Charlatans provide them Plainly what WE can see as trickery, they see as supernatural powers. What we know as "cold reading", they take as psychic abilities and absolute truth. It matters not how many times these fraudsters are called out, there will always be a contingent of poor fool who is desperate to talk to a dead child or parent and beg to he told that communication was made. It may provide some form of closure, but is that really the case when they are being lied to?

There's actually a pretty sad story around this James Hydrick guy. He grew up with an abusive father who was 30 when he impregnated his then 15 year old mother, apparently he witnessed one of his brothers being beaten to death so he learned himself Karate at the age of 6 to defend himself from his father. later in life he did a buncha bad shit himself from kidnapping to child abuse and apparently had some pretty amazing escape's during his incarceration. (kicked through a concrete wall) This dude sure is a weird character.
