We could go back and forth all day about whether it makes a difference, the bottom line is that if it takes a gimmick to get you to play more then a $10 piece of wire is worth it. I enjoy your videos, thanks.

Thanks for turning on the amp. I liked it 👍. I can see how it would " slow ya down" if a string broke......but I think breaking a string is a very rare occurrence (IMO ). Great little tool and great video !! Thanks for taking the time to share this. On a side note, that Gibson is definitely a beauty ! You could strum that, drive to McDonald's , grab a burger, bring it home and it would still be ringing out that last chord you strumed . Great sustain 😀 !!

Hi Cindy, I am the inventor of the Tonebar and again thank you for all your work and i know how much work it takes to do these videos, Ok so i have solutions to your concerns, first just buy some pins in the color you want, black or white and cut them in half and just plug the holes, this does not effect the Tonebar in any way and gives you the look and feel of pins, but with the sound, volume, and sustain of the ToneBar. 2nd watch my ToneBar breaks a string video where i replace a string without taking out the ToneBar, just use again a half of a pin and just put the ball end down the hole and tune up. But the real solution is to have a backup at a gig. And yes it is brass and no you can't buy this at the store, i have been working on this for 5 years and tried all kinds of material and this is it, the best size and the best material and have a proprietary suppler who makes it special just for me. Now I am not being pushy but those other guitars you played would be enhanced with a ToneBar, i have put these in so many guitars that when i hear it without a ToneBar i can tell how much better it will sound with a Tonebar installed and those will definitely be improved with my little invention, again thank you and keep playing, and if want me to send more for your other guitars please let me know i would love hear those come alive, thank you

Thanks for responding to my observation on the tonebar's impracticality. I'm not sure it's something I would be interested in, but I am sure I'd be annoyed if I were using a guitar outfitted with it live and broke a string! I'm an amateur guitarist and when I have played out, I didn't take 2 acoustic guitars with me to jam sessions or the clubs I played in. Breaking strings wasn't a regular occurrence but when it does happen it can throw everything off and this would not be an easy or quick fix.

Haven't put one in yet, but I just bought three of them. Did you bend that one end of the ToneBar upward like the inventor said to (seems like I saw someone say that is unecessary)?
@guitarnotions
3 ай бұрын
I did not bend it. It already had a slight bend and it is all holding in place. I think the purpose is so they don’t slide off while you are placing it under the bridge plate. It work just fine with out the added bend for me. (Not sure if there is another reason for the bend 😀

I slotted a few bridges to experiment and bought unslotted bone pins, ground them flat on one side to hold the ball ends straight. “Everything makes a difference “ - Rich Seversen

@@jameslifetimelearner after seeing a video on this very modification I bought a couple of slot saws that fit the string gauge - but I could not bring myself to cutting the bridge pin holes. So I did not do it 😀

@@guitarnotions Totally get it.I use a little blade from a tiny back saw for everything (nut and bridge) and a tiny tapered round file. start with string ramp then hollow out for a snug fit . Look at the plate mate holes. You only need 1/2 diameter of rewrap over the ball end. I stick the pin(without the string) and mark it at the Plate. Then flatten the unslotted pin to hold the ball straight, and make a shallow slot for a snug fit.(or just spin the slotted pin around.or fill the slot with epoxy) Instead of the string and ball flopping around loosely, you have maximum surface contact. Now when I restring I will take some bare copper ground wire from #12 Romex,bend one end,slide it through the ball ends,check the fit,cut off the excess,push up tight with one hand and fit the pins… I’m a retired plumber.

Good morning Cindy. Do you have a humidistat? For all those beautiful guitar's? FYI, I got the Taylor back working again. Completely had to restore the heel. I have an announcement for you. The only way to see it is by taking the necks off. There's an inherent crack that can and often does appear in most if not all taylor neck heels. They form a crack in the heel where the joints meet the thread holes. It never gets seen until the neck needs a reset. If you're the original owner, ( they ask you for the SN and then ban that guitar from ever seeing the neck reset shims) taylor will help but if not, they barr you from having their services which upsets me. On occasion they do transfer ownership rights but it's not often. This flaw is what I found so I'm telling you about it. The way to fix this flaw is to catch it before it becomes catastrophic. A thin bead of superglue needs to be wicked in and then it's ok. One other person has reported seeing this as a common thing. Perhaps you can check before something happens. The tone bar lives! Lol,😊😂

There's not enough string sticking through the bridge to easily remove and reinstall a string. You really need to completely remove the string to put one on without a major struggle. If it's a G string that means removing three strings completely to replace 1. That takes a lot of time that you don't have during a gig. If you have a chewed up sound board under the bridge then it's certainly going to bring your guitar back to life...especially if the ball end is pulling through. I think it's a great solution to fixing a sound board without spending the money to replace the wooden one. The guitar is not usable if the string pulls through.
@guitarnotions

No question, string change is challenging and definitely takes time. I would definitely suggest bringing a backup guitar for such a situation. also a good point, about it could be a way to temporarily fix a guitar with a worn out bridge plate. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts ❤️
