Honestly one of the best setups out there for the everyday working class guy. I’m building mine to be very similar but I’m going with SkyTrak instead of Optishot. The netting idea is probably the best option I’ve seen. Well done sir.

Dan, Awesome setup, best garage I've ever seen! I'm looking to do something similar for a golf simulator as well as my virtual bicycle trainer. You've provided a bunch of information on your setup which is much appreciated! It saves the rest of us a lot of research, and trial and error as we do the same thing. Can you share some details on what you ended up doing for your mat, where you got it, how big it is, etc.? You said in the video that it was more expensive than the trainer, but the mat obviously makes a big difference with how functional and "real" feeling this type of setup is. Also, you've had your setup for a little while now, can you share any lessons learned with us? Anything you would have done, not done, done differently in retrospect after having it for almost a year now? Thanks!

Nice setup! I'm looking to do something similar. How far is the screen frame away from the wall? Do you hit real balls? I'm looking at 6" from the wall, and worried about making the netting too taunt that real balls would bounce back to hard. How did you calculate that out? Great video!

That's an awesome setup. Wondering how much was the investment for your system as it is? Also, what's the distance from the hitting area of the mat to the screen? Someone asked earlier if the 60 degree wedge is ever an issue with it going too vertical. Is the image being projected on the wall with the net 1ft in front of it. Please confirm. I have a room that's 17' 6" deep x 10' wide x 10' high, looks like that setup would work.

Hey Dan, Great idea and setup. You explained it all very well. I'm curious about the ceiling height. I have a rec room with a 9 ft ceiling. It's upstairs and I would rather not cut out my ceiling to elevate it a foot or two. Can you swing freely in 9 feet? I'm also curious about your projector. Is it simply a run of the mill machine or something golf related? Additionally, does the Optishot detect the ball direction or swing direction? Can a putting green be integrated if you have the room? Thanks for the help... Ron near Grand National

Okay, great! Are you running the BenQ W1080ST? What aspect ratio are you using? It looks like it does a great job filling the screen. Also love the Westcoast netting screen and would love to know more about the construction of that. Is it one piece, or did they have to put a seam in it due to the size?
@dunagandanun
10 жыл бұрын
HurricaneBase Its a BenQ 1080ST, and does a great job. Really you can use any aspect ratio its basically just a balance between distance from the screen and the size of the image that you want. I got really technical in reading the BenQ manual and starting working formula's but finally I just decided to use good ol' trial and error in positioning it. The screen is one piece and there is a seam in it b/c of the size that I went with. Not a big deal though, I put the seam at the bottom and its hardly noticeable. Hope this helps and happy golfing.

Dan Dunagan Dan, which netting did you go with from West Coast Netting, the PR-20 or the PR-100? I've built my garage simulator using your garage as a model to build from, though I did scale it back a little bit since I still needed to use the 7' closest to the garage door for my motorcycles. I currently have canvas hanging for a screen and am using foam balls, but now it's time to finish this simulator up with the impact screen and framing. Thanks again for posting up your video, it certainly inspired me!
