Minoxidil is not easily dissolved in water (saliva) that is why topical minoxidil is either dissolved in alcohol or propylene glycol. I doubt just opening a capsule and placing the contents under your tongue is as easy or effective as the video suggests. The Australian study doesn't describe the method in which they sublingual minoxidil was prepared or administered

It's not uncommon to use medication this way. I got my hands on minoxidil powder and used around 5mg under my tongue - I almost passed out. The same thing happened when I measured 0.1ml of topical minoxidil (which equates to 5mg) and placed it under my tongue.

I think a lot of people in the comments are not reading about the side effects. Oral minox can cause salt and water retention. The label itself literally tells you that. Salt and water retention can cause dark eye circles and puffy eyes, etc. The suggestion if you have that happen or want to get ahead of it is to reduce your salt intake and increase your water intake. Also good if you take a water pill diuretic such as low dose hydrochlorothiazide 25-50mg.

Matt D - thanks for your time, effort and dedication to the art and science of hair growth ! Well Done ! I would love for you to make clear the trade-off, i.e. "risks" of incorporating oral minoxidil into a regiment (to the best of your ability). Specifically my concerns are: impact on collagen production, impact on ability to hold muscle mass - and concerns about its affect on the heart and blood pressure. I will admit - its an attractive option, but... at what cost ?

really curious to see the outcome of your sublingual min experiment! Btw, you can lower the plasma concentration of oral by splitting the dose through the day, for example every 2 hours or 3x per day (every 5 hours). Unclear if this has a reduced efficacy compared to one big dose per day.

Hi Matt. I've been taking 3MG Oral Minoxidil daily. 1.5mg morning, and the other 1.5mg at night. No side effects. Now my doctor told me to up the dosage for 5mg. Should i continue to split the dosage daily? Take 2.5 mg morning, and the other 2.5mg at night? Im afraid of side effects like Edema, Eyes bags. And in my opinion ( just my opinion ) by splitting the dosage, the concentration of the remedy on the blood would not be so high as taking 5mg pill at once, and with that maybe i can minimize side effects as the ones i refered, and at the end of the day, i would still be taking the 5mg dosage.

Minoxidil by itself will lose efficacy over time as your male pattern baldness will become stronger (basically the DHT will outclass the Minoxidil). But Used alongside finasteride, then minoxidil will work as long as you use it so yeah it will work for 20+ years. Conclusion : Just make sure you use minoxidil alongside finasteride. You NEED to block the DHT as well.

My answer is: Could be done. However you may run into absorption issues and thus need to use microneedling + there is a chance of higher instability of highly concentrated topical minoxidil products. This was disproved by a 2021 study on 2-15% topical MXD foam solutions showing 93% - 99% stability for 180 days. But you can not say it with guarantee for any liquid MXD solution higher than 5%. Also with 10% + MXD you get more systemic absorption. Up to 5ng/ml MXD serum concentration is possible to end up with after applying 5% topical MXD. If you use 10% or more you could be potentially ending up with more than 5ng/ml. This is already more than what you end up with when using up to 4mg of oral minox sublingually.
