I’ve been playing professionally since I was 12 I will be 66 years old in March I cannot name the number of amplifiers I have used over these years. I was on the road for five years after being on the Nashville network ( you can be a star ) and enjoyed, being able to try out numerous amplifiers over the years....🎶❤️🎵 I have owned a school of music now for 22 years I play 14 instruments but when I play out with my bands I am a guitar player.... , this was absolutely the best demonstration of this amplifier I have seen....!!! I just purchased one this morning it will be here Thursday and I am looking forward to playing several of my different guitars through it... It was really nice to hear an actual versatile guitar player demonstrate this head to its fullest extent thank you for posting this video....! I did last month go to guitar center and played a Les Paul gold top through this head and was extremely impressed with the singing sustain....! I enjoyed your clean Channel demo ...!🎶❤️🎵 , it’s kind of hard to really try a amp out in a music store where you can’t take your time and listen to everything the amp can do....! You are by far in my opinion one of the best guitar players for versatility to demo A amplifier if someone is in the market. Again thank you for your wonderful video I’m glad I purchased ahead and I am looking forward to putting it in my stable of amplifiers in my teaching studio... I have been Gig’ing Believe it or not with a champ 40 because it only weighs 19 pounds and it sounds good whether I am playing my 30 year old Joe Glaser (B) string bender Tele or my Black Falcon.... I have a new Marshall Two 12 cabinet that is not horribly heavy and I believe this head weighs 31 pounds...! This video has convinced me to go ahead and put forth the effort and carry the Marshall Two12 cabinet and the new Orange crush 120 to a few gigs because I really think Whether I am playing Gram Parsons hot burrito number one, or or comfortably numb I will be able to get it with this great sounding amp head.....! Again excellent video excellent demo and you Sir are a excellent excellent player.... professor Jeff Galey The Jeff Galey School Of Music 🎶🎻🎵🎹🎵🎸❤️🎼🎓🎓🎓

@iplaymytele
4 жыл бұрын
Nautijan .... Still Love it ....! It’s just a Smooth fantastic sounding amp ...! Again I own several amps and over the years, I can’t even count the number of amplifiers I have a Owned.....! The only amplifier I have ever on that I can actually make any of my telecasters sound like a Strat if I want to....! You know Strats have that ( plastic mid range sound because the pick ups are actually mounted in the pick guard ) ..! nothing to do with the body, what it’s made of, “ it simply the string vibration over three pick ups ( Mounted in plastic ) “ I play telecasters mostly....., I have several because because I use a B string bender...! ( A Lot ) The back ( Lead ) , pick up is mounted in a chunk of steel, and that chunk of steel is screwed directly to the Wood of the body giving the guitar incredible sustain...! Then the strings run through the body, even the small front rhythm pick up is screwed to the wood body..! The Pick guard just Lifts off of Of the Body Leaving The Pickups on most Telecasters ( USA ), screwed in place .....! So they have a wider variety of Tone and in my humble opinion a brighter town than any guitar on the market....!!! But with this new orange crush amplifier I don’t know about the other Orange Amp , models I have not played them ....! I wanted the Orange 🍊 Crush 120 Pro , because of all of the positive feedback and I did get a chance to play my telecaster and my Les Paul through this head before I purchased it...! This particular video with ( Mike Martin) , is absolutely the best of all the videos I have watched...! 🎶❤️❤️🎵 Mike is very down to earth he actually knows how to play and he actually knows how to play different styles of music, and how to get the most out of this particular amp head.....! To answer your question again, YES... , I love this particular amp head...! In my studio downstairs, I believe there are 10 amplifiers....! And I still love all my different amplifiers....!!! But when Orange designed and made the Orange 🍊Crush 120 Pro ..... , Son......., they really did their homework......!!! Professor Jeff Galey The Jeff Galey School of Music. 🎵🎸🎶🎹🎶🎻🎻🎶🎹🎶🎸🎸🎓

This saves wear on my Traynor yba3 until live shows. But I like this Orange enough that I might use it live too. Of course it sounds great with my 77 LP std and my 80 Strat... but it is a great bass amp too, on the clean channel of course.

I am rooting for analogue solid state to become sonically great for lead guitar. I own Tech 21 pedals and 200-watt Quilter amps. All solid state. Along with my tube amps. But so far solid state in a loud rehearsal or even small gig situation begins to thin out at higher volumes when trying to play single-note lead guitar. The same is true of this amplifier. Only tube amps so far solve this problem, Tube misery is here to stay at this point in time.

I've gigged with it a few times and I've actually been told to turn it down & it wasn't even that high anyway. I found it's got plenty of headroom for a Solid State Amp, I guess you found that out on the demo? But aye, great Amp, thoroughly impressed with it and it comes with that reliability and the price you get with this Amp. For a "Valve Tone", you could always run a Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Classic pedal through it, or something similar. Best of both worlds.

Can I connect this head to an 8 OHM framus 2x12 cab? The outputs on this head are 16 ohms, so I don't want to blow anything up...
@Mike2of5Martin
9 жыл бұрын
The rule is to always make sure ohms match. That's the most efficient for the amp and speaker. If you are going to mismatch ohms, lower ohms out into higher is the only way. For example, 8 ohms out will go into a 16 ohm cabinet (not efficient, but will work) but 16 ohms out will not go into an 8 ohm cabinet (this will be very bad for your amp!) There are some great sites around online that explain why much better than I can so I stick with the rule: Always make sure ohms match! lol

so this is basically no good if you occasionally want a loud clean tone?
@Mike2of5Martin

It is doable, but I think you'll get more of the "edge of break-up" the louder you go with it.

which orange amp is that beneath the CR120 ?

That is actually a Peavey JSX. I covered up the logo with an Orange logo postcard for the video.

oh hahaha okay, would you recommend this amp ? 'cause i can't choose between this and the bugera 6260 which is a peavey 6505 clone :/
@Mike2of5Martin

I do like this amp but it's a bit different from the Bugera (I've not played it though. I have played the 6505 a lot). You might want to get some time at a music shop playing it to be sure but I really like this one! Let me know what you end with!

Awesome video man, great playing. Also, amazing sound in that room! P.S Does anyone know if this amp will work with a Marshall Cab?
@Mike2of5Martin
9 жыл бұрын
Thanks! This head will totally work with a Marshall cabinet. The main thing is to make sure the ohms match. I believe this head supports 16ohm and 8ohm speaker outs. The only thing I don't think it will do is 4ohm. I'd check the website to be sure: www.orangeamps.com

For a solid state amp sounds great, but I would not change it for my Bugera V22. The tubes sounding is richer...

+motorrebell I have not tested this Orange personally, and how I have said, sounds really great for being a solid state amp, but to my ears, does not have the warmth and dynamic sounding of an all tubes amp. Of course, the sounding taste is always subjective.
@motorrebell
8 жыл бұрын
+I Love 80 ́s Yes its about Personal preference And sound-settings - The Crush pro is Based on the Orange Rockerverb - Has the same circuitry - but wth mosfet-analog transistors instead of Tubes . Orange Amps ( tube & solid State ) have a Rough fizzy gain sound at higher settings - Thats their trademark - british tone -somewhere between Marshall and Vox . I would say The Bugera v22 has a more "Fender like" american tone . Compare a Tube version Rockervereb to the Bugera they are still completeley different sounding amps .Compare the Tube Rockerverb -crush pro you almost cant tell the difference -almost just as dynamic as the tube version !
@michaelbell75

Tube warmth can be heard playing alone. In a mix, once you add a loud drummer, bass player with a good sized rig and vocals, you are never going to hear a difference. Anyone who says they can hear a difference between an excellent SS amp like this and a tube amp in a mix is full of shit.

Sweet! Best demo on the internet! Dude would you mind to upload a soundclip with high gain settings (pure amp)?
@Mike2of5Martin

Kleto Al Ro Thanks so much! My demos are always pure amp. I don't use any addition EQ or compression to make them sound different than what it's like to plug right in. This amp went back to Orange after filming the demo so I wouldn't be able to do another clip with it, sadly.

So what you're saying is.. I can't have a loud clean channel?
@Mike2of5Martin
9 жыл бұрын
+Donald Sowash You do have a master volume so you can turn it up from there. The channel volume acts more like a "pre-gain" for the channel. Hope that helps!

+Mike Martin Thanks! I generally don't play anywhere besides basements (although I'm trying to change that ) but I use a loop pedal and need my cleans to be crisp to have everything sound natural
@Mike2of5Martin
9 жыл бұрын
GuitarFreak1901 If I have the option, I always try to run my loop pedals in the effects loop. That way they aren't colored by changes I might make to the preamp or switching to the dirty channel. Loops stay pristine like a delay unit. It's more cables, but great for clarity.

Could you recommend me an inexpensive cabinet thats good for this amp? Thanks.
@Mike2of5Martin

There are lots out there. Orange cabs are not the least expensive but are great. Vox makes an open back 1x12 that I think is affordable and I also have many Peavey cabinets in my arsenal that sound fantastic as well. I think you can find a good variation of price points there. Good luck and let me know what you end up with!
