With you im able to learn about all these different species of plants. I have just a regular phalaenopsis that was bought from the grocery store from my son when my dog passed away. It had three plastic pots with three plants inside a big ceramic Bowl. Sadly I lost one of them as I was learning how to care for them but my other two are growing fabulously. Again I'm still having trouble knowing if the new growth is a flower stem or root. I've yet to have any Roots growing outside of the pot from the top so maybe I have both. I do have a lot of them so I'm hoping they are both. It's been a year and it's time for it to flower sometime in the near future. Seems to be taking forever but the leaves are beautiful dark green and very sturdy and healthy. Thank you for teaching me everything I need to know 💜

My Minmaru is doing so well! My previous one, bloomed beautifully and then after it bloomed, all of the seemingly healthy leaves fell off! I up-potted this new one pretty high. No moss is touching near the bottom of the stem. It has tons of new roots growing and so far so good! 🤞The roots on these are SO thick compared to the actual plant! It is amusing to me...lol

I understand that the question I’m about to ask has absolutely nothing to do with the video you have just provided today. I wanted to ask you if you’ve ever had a run-in with mold mites and if so how did you go about eradicating them? By the way… I absolutely love your content and how in-depth you go in explaining why you do things that you do and why they are beneficial to your plants ❤️❤️❤️

Are you sure you’re not seeing springtails? They’re a little creepy but they’re very beneficial. If you’re lucky enough to have them accidentally, you definitely don’t want to eradicate them.

If your Sideria lost a root, it might be staying wet for too long. All that root growth above the bark layer could be an attempt to create aerial roots to decrease drying time. Mine are all mounted or potted up fuuran style and dry within 48 hrs, maximum.

Buna Dani. Am nevoie de ajutor. Am o Phalaenopsis Bellina de 1 an. A ramas mica. Ma ingrijoreaza frunzele ca sunt tot mai pale, subtiri si cea de la baza se onduleaza. Este intr- un amestec de scoarta, putin muschi si perlit.

Hello, Danni, regarding the moss you throw away, I was wondering if it would be feasible to boil it and reuse it? What do you think?

Can you grow roots on an orchid that had them rot off and the leaves were wrinkled and droopy. A friend said I should consider trying to root it in water like I’ve done other plants. Don’t know it that ever works. So what I have been doing now is putting the bare bottom in water. Might that ever work?

Hi Danni I’m hoping you can help me with a problem I’m having with my Phals. I keep them in the greenhouse and during a storm in winter I lost a window and botched it as much as could until storm passed and could repair. The plants all seemed ok but now some of the Phals (standard supermarket hybrids) are putting out new spikes after the usual winter spikes. I’m wondering if the blast of cold they had could have induced spikes? If so is this going to damage the health of the plants?

Quick question on these pot “Lechuza”, I was gonna put Brassidium or Oncidiums in the self watering pots. Not a good idea? I’m using the rePotme Oncidium media. In the Lechuza CUBI planters

I think Jones meant, when leaves have more variegation, increase light in order to help the plant compensate for less chlorophyll.

Cattleya- the ones that rot easily and want a dry period- how does that work with a self watering pot?
@MissOrchidGirl
2 ай бұрын
Hi, I don’t think I’ve ever met such a kitty 🤔 in any case, for any orchid that needs a dry rest, the self watering pots can be used as normal pots, just dump the water out of the reservoir, or limit the quantity of water offered so that it doesn’t accumulate. The reservoir is there only when it’s needed, it can be used, or not, I find it very versatile :)

@@MissOrchidGirl everything I’m reading says overwatering Cattleya kills the roots. So, that’s not the case?
@MissOrchidGirl
2 ай бұрын
Well it only depends on environment and what you’d consider over watering. I grow my Cattleyas in full sphagnum moss due to my hot and dry environment, but other people benefit from bark mixes better. I also leave them in a bit of standing water, or use self watering pots, otherwise I have serious dehydration issues. So it’s all very relative, for beginners you’ll always find the safest practices, but it in practice things can be very different for each of us :)
