I know that my response is to a rather old post, but I just found it today. Great job on the video! I did notice that by not having the bait centered in the trap it allowed one crawfish to block the entrance of at least 6 or 7 more. Next time, you can try attaching a bait-bag to the middle of the trap. Oh. And a second after writing my suggestion I again realized that I'm writing this about 5 years after it was originally posted, so I'm sure you've already become a master at catching these tasty little critters by now. :-) I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed watching what was happening under the water. Thank you for sharing that.

Good idea a Minnesota tuber used; 5 mil black plastic around traps and his near filled as crawdads cannot forage from sides and felt safe going in the ends.

Don’t forget about them claws! You can take a rolling pin and roll out meat from them and the legs if they’re big enough.

I put my bait in a water bottle or something similar with lots of holes in it, that way they go in the trap all the way and don't take off with the bait. I've done really well with canned tuna flavored cat food. I just crack the lid open about half way but don't bend it back so it stays in. I'll have to try regular fish next time.

K Digiacomo I'm hoping to experiment with different baits and see which one worked best. But from my personal experience shad works best. But again, I've only every tried hotdogs or shad really lol

Old Bay or the Cajun seasoning are both great. But......you then need to dip the tail meat in melted butter and garlic.
@pdxfishing6840

Patrick Magee yeah I agree. It was good but if I had a dipping butter for the tails, it would have been perfect

@@pdxfishing6840 Many years ago a group of coworkers and I went to Lake Billy Chinook for a weekend. There were 7 adults and half a dozen kids and every night the only dinner we had was crawdads. We would set multiple traps in the morning while we fished and then picked them up for lunch break. We would have 10 gallons or more each day. We just boiled them and dipped them in butter and garlic, no other seasonings.
