Excellent tour of your future lab and store room. Must be nice to have it all under one roof! I got a bit carried away and ended up with rental storage locker (or two...!) Looking forward to your next video episode!

Hey man I just want to say thank you so much for making the super nt. It’s really a dream come true for me and I’m enjoying it so much. Not sure what the best place to reach you was so I just picked a random video. Your work is much appreciated, thank you!

Glad to see things getting organized. Hopefully a good space to get some work done on the Zimba 3K.

Looks great! May want to be careful with those shelves, you don't want the legs tearing your carpet.

Don't worry, those shelving units will last forever. Used them at two different stores and we have hundreds of pounds of merchandise on them and they remain sturdy.

Lol, video ended with that Capcom controller on the desk. I love that thing, only complaint is I wish it had some buttons on the back of the handle so it could be used one handed.

I put all of my cables in ziploc bags, so they don't get tangled up. Maybe something to consider?

Organizing yourself is great! Not only do I have a mess in real life, but I also have a mess digitally, files all over the place in my computer which takes lots of time to sort, rename, etc etc. Holy shit, you have a lot of junk :P

What about dumpstar diving to get a LCD panel which can have the LCD membrane removed and used as a light panel.

guess what I got sitting downstairs I obtained at work? yep it's a 40" LCD TV with the LCD removed! hehe. It IS plenty bright but the problem is it's purple! Going to have to do a bunch of work to figure out how to make it white light. I thought about making a video on it.

*sees stack of SNES carts in the lab* *starts wildly speculating* Z3K SNES support work? Analogue Super NT Mini? A cat food station built out of NES cartridges? This kind of makes me wish that I had an actual house instead of a one bedroom apartment downtown, but then, all that maintenance...

Zimba 3K SNES support = SNES HDMI mod possibility ;-)
@electronash
8 жыл бұрын
A SNES HDMI mod is definitely possible, it's just a lot more work than other consoles. It's the same issue with the Saturn and Genesis, as they only output analog video directly from their chipsets, so it's a lot more work to extract the true digital video bus signals. (I'm sure Kev can handle it though. hehe)

ElectronAsh How is your universal FPGA HDMI device coming along?

Coucho Hi, We basically made the decision to delay it slightly longer so that we can upgrade the FPGA and add SDRAM. That means that it will be able to support the GD Emu code that Marcus Comstedt recently released (making it possible to run DC games directly from the SD card slot, and with a high compatibility + CD Audio etc. ;) ) As you can imagine, a LOT of people will be wanting the GD Emu support, so it made sense for us to try to support it. It will require a small flex cable for hooking up to the G1 port, but that shouldn't cost a great deal. We'll also be looking into doing a custom flex cable which solders to the test pads on the original GD drive, which will allow people to switch between the real GD drive and the GD Emu. The larger FPGA and the SDRAM on the new-new board will also make it possible to run many of the (open-source) retro FPGA cores, like the Genesis, NES, Minimig (Amiga), Game Boy, SMS, Speccy, Beeb, etc. :p You may have heard that the ESP32 board has just been release too? If I can manage to get the code working on it (and if we can get hold of enough of them in time), we'll see if we can use that instead of the ESP8266 we're currently using. The ESP32 is a fair bit faster, but more importantly it has many more IO pins, and both fast 150 Mbps + Bluetooth. That will mean being able to connect it with PS3 / PS4 controllers, wiimotes, keyboards / mice, headsets / mics / speakers / tablets / phones etc. It may take some time for me to get all of that stuff working whichever ESP module we go with though. lol The good thing is, we now configure the FPGA directly from a file on the SD card (just like the MiST board), so we can offer proper future firmware updates for both the ESP module and the FPGA itself. The important thing atm is just to get the kit released soon (for the Dreamcast initially), but the new board is very nearly finished. I will be able to add support for using a Wiimote sensor, and the HDMI board will then "emulate" a Dreamcast Light Gun. You won't even need to use the original light gun, just the wiimote sensor and "sensor bar". Again though, that stuff will happen later on.
