I remember when Ice Age came out, and how big of a deal it was that they reprinted Icy Manipulator. The Icys in your deck just reminded me of that. :P

My gosh, old school MTG was pure GLORY! I haven't played or built a new deck in the last 18 years or so....lol but this brings back some memories! From what I understand modern magic simply went in a completely different direction from the "original" game; "broken" creature after "broken" creature, bad design (mechanics and graphics) and so on. Maybe I'm just old, but come on....I've never seen "power levels" like some "modern" creatures...today, "beaters" like Juzam/Erhnam Djinn, Serra Angel/Sengir Vampire etc. would be laughed at! From what I gather Black Lotus/"Moxes"....well all the "Power Nine", as well as the Wheel of Fortune/Necropotence/the original dual lands.....and so on, remain unmatched, though! Thanks

I've wanted to try Sleight of Mind or Magic Hack decks, as it really displays the reality twisting power of blue. The problem is the reverse card efficiency - every time Timmy wiped out a Sleighted creature, he got one more card advantage. Fulco might have done better against a mono-colored deck, though.

Putting on the white robes to play the deck full of knights and priests is such a fun commitment. Congratulations on a round 1 victory. I was a bit surprised not to see any Sedge Trolls, seems a slam dunk in a quake and disk deck. Is it a function of the format?

@@TimmytheSorcerer yeah, plus hack decks are so hard to pilot with consistency to begin with, but he gave it his all. I would be curious to see how they would do in a stapleless tournament. Gonna have to call BS on that protection damage ruling. Surely a creature with protection does not receive any damage. Googled it, "(This creature can't be blocked, targeted, dealt damage, or enchanted by anything black". So damage dealt surely?
@TimmytheSorcerer
11 күн бұрын
Are you talking about the trample damage? Do you have a time stamp? 702.18b The controller of an attacking creature with trample first assigns damage to the creature(s)blocking it. Once all those blocking creatures are assigned lethal damage, any remainingdamage is assigned as its controller chooses among those blocking creatures and the player orplaneswalker the creature is attacking. When checking for assigned lethal damage, take intoaccount damage already marked on the creature and damage from other creatures thats beingassigned during the same combat damage step, but not any abilities or effects that might changethe amount of damage thats actually dealt. The attacking creatures controller need not assignlethal damage to all those blocking creatures but in that case cant assign any damage to theplayer or planeswalker its attacking. Example: A 2/2 creature that can block an additional creature blocks two attackers: a1/1 with no abilities a 3/3 with trample. The active player could assign 1 damage fromthe first attacker and 1 damage from the second to the blocking creature, and 2 damageto the defending player from the creature with trample. Example: A 6/6 green creature with trample is blocked by a 2/2 creature with protectionfrom green. The attacking creatures controller must assign at least 2 damage to theblocker, even though that damage will be prevented by the blockers protection ability.The attacking creatures controller can divide the rest of the damage as he or shechooses between the blocking creature and the defending player. As a note, this works because protection stops the damage from being dealt, but not from being assigned. Trample only cares about damage assignment and doesn't take into account any effects that would modify the damage dealt after assignment.

@@TimmytheSorcerer oh man, differentiating between assigning and dealt......, I don't doubt you are right. Just glad all those cosmic horrors I blocked 25 years ago with an order of the white shield didn't have trample...... Otherwise I would be owning up!
