I only think Ori should have won because it beats FF7R's *NEW* songs and it's a 2020 award. I absolutely adore Doom Eternal, especially as a fan of games like Quake and Doom as franchises, and as such I do like Eternal's soundtrack. But, I just don't think it's as strong as 2016's soundtrack or Mick's other work personally. Ori and the FF remake nailed it harder for me, and I don't like TLOU2's soundtrack and I don't know much about Hades. Between the 2, I'd indeed have to give it to Ori.

I’d assume most people who are in here have played through the whole game already, but please-I BEG YOU-if you haven’t played the game yet, then please play the game first before listening through the whole soundtrack. You need to experience this all for the first time in the game itself to get the best out of it. But after you beat this game, yeah, go ahead and play the whole soundtrack on loop like I do lol. I promise you’ll unlock the full majesty of this game’s soundtrack if you play the original game before playing this one though. I wholeheartedly disagree, to say that you need to play the game to get the most out of the OST is a disservice. It tells a story, so if you don’t/can’t play the game then you can still enjoy that story. The music should never rely on the game to create the best experience, the music should be an experience of its own.
@ClarkusMarkus
4 жыл бұрын
@@garamoth97 The music is definitely an experience on its own, but some of the titles are spoilery. Also, the music feels more powerful when you first experience it during gameplay. The boss themes especially have more of an impact when you're struggling to fight and Ori's theme starts blasting in your ears during the 3rd phase to hype you up.
@bidoofus7921

Scurvy McChisel The way I see it, you’ll have a more long lasting and emotional connection to each track in a video game if you have a concrete grasp of the context behind when and why it plays during the game. I’d imagine most people would establish those sorts of strong mental connections best during their initial exposures to each track, and so I feel the best way to first experience the soundtrack is, at least for the most part, naturally alongside the game’s own progression. Can those connections still be formed after listening to the soundtrack and then playing the game? Absolutely. But I feel like there’s some songs in video games we only like as much as we do because we were first exposed to them alongside some specifically-timed event. In this game especially there’s some moments in the soundtrack where simply hearing a particular motif at a certain moment in time-matched with what’s happening in the game-is itself a means of garnering new meaning behind the musical piece. Hopefully what I’m getting at makes sense lol. Honestly ClarkusMarkus summed up what I was getting at pretty well. Just think of some of the songs from video games you love and ask yourself whether someone who hasn’t experienced the game it’s from would see the same level of appeal.

I must admit I had a doubt in Gareth Coker. The first Ori soundtrack was a total masterpiece and I checked the author's other spotify albums and they were all very different from Ori's. So I thought this was a one shot, that can't be possibly beaten or even matched in the sequel. Boy I was wrong... And I'm so glad I was wrong!

Cried so much at the end but I couldn't help but keep re-watching it. It's a mix of happiness: Ori's sacrifice made the world beautiful again, and BIG sadness: Naru couldn't see her child for one last time 😭

Honestly, it felt like the ending was to abrupt. I was legitimately unhappy with it because of that. If they did a DLC exploring the whole thing I could see it, but as it was it hit harder than a brick wall, and not in an emotionally satisfying way.

@@JesusQuintana86 Did Shriek ever get a confirmed sex? I missed it if they did. That, and I wasn't aware Shriek died there. That felt more like resting to recouperate from their wounds. They rejected the light, and didn't seem like they were going anywhere.

If the soundtrack made you tear up the atmosphere and beauty of the game upon completing the epic moments and watching the cutscenes with the music and art in the background will have you weeping and tie nostalgic memories to the entire soundtrack. So. Damn. Good.
