I received my Coronado boots today. Mine fit, but exactly. My Redwings are probably 3/16" longer in the same size. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

I have the American bison mini lug. I'm on concrete all day and these stay comfortable for its entirety. The bison is like butter right out of the box. Can easily be resoled by a cobbler. Will purchase again.

I've already worn down the bison hide Origin boot soles and had 'em replaced. Once they break in (which is extremely quickly), they're super fucking comfortable. Love 'em.

For a boot in that style you could take to work, jim green makes the Razorback which is a little cheaper and very tough. Those have a break in time, but you can beat em up. I was just breaking rock and planting trees in mine.

Because they are built like a heritage boot, however it's a hybrid between a stitch down and a Blake stitch I believe. Still very rebuildable by a shoe cobbler

I've owned 3 pairs of their work boots. 1 pair of the OG safety toe & two pairs of the no slip soles 6in safety toe models l. All three pairs soles began to unglue along the front. Origin replaced one pair at no cost to me. Then that replacement pair had the exact same issue. I'm not going to buy their work boots again. They're too expensive to be having these issues. Plus all three had absolutely no waterproofing to the point of you step in a puddle and you'll get wet socks from water seeping in through the tongue and laces area. Their work boots have not been good for work
@JMatt1

That's weird. I've walked in puddles up to the bottom of the tongue and nothing got in. Only thing I don't like about the work boots is that they are oddly flexible, vs the regulars are not. Might wear out faster because of that. But I've been liking the regular ones lately with a 3/4 insole in them

Also they recently said they changed the glue compound, so it should be less likely to happen, and I forgot to mention the work boots at least my pair are gusseted up to the speed hooks with leather so it should be somewhat water resistant. I don't know if the older pairs had that or not.

There is another video on YT, the sole becomes detached. They replace his boots with a second pair and it did the same thing after they changed the process. C/S sucks. They NEVER ever respond to the emails I have sent. I'm NOT buying a pair.
@JMatt1

They also gave that dude a third pair completely free. After another 6 months. I'd say their customer service is quite good if they were willing to give him two free pairs of boots after he utterly abused them for work. I highly doubt you would put them through as much as that guy did. Origin has since said they have changed the glue compound. Also, ANY boot with a glued on sole can come off eventually in bad enough conditions. Your concerns are likely not warranted

I returned mine. They looked like Clown shoes in person lol. And when I put them on I could not figure out why they are $320…. These shouldn’t be more then $200. These are red wing price and no where near red wing. I do like the USA thing but meh.

The work boots with the comp toe do look like clown shoes lol but they are work boots not dress boots, the regular ones look fine and mine are EE. The only difference between these and redwings is leather insole vs poron insole, and construction style. Redwings aren't anything special these days, especially compared to any PNW brand, hell they even skip putting midsoles on some of their heritage models which blows my mind. I'll take my whites perry selects any day over any redwing model. It does everything the redwing does but better with more comfort. I will however give a point to redwing having store fronts across the US to be able to try them on, that is nice. Also I'm curious, what sole did you have on the pair you got, after wearing both mine for a while now I'm surprised at the "excessive" flexibility the work boots have over the non work boots, and I can only chalk that up to the outsole being different

@@JMatt1 I had the standard lug and it was the Coronado boot, which 100% look clowny as hell in person not in pics lol. And there is a much bigger difference between these and red wings. Rose anvil does a great break down. These don’t even have a good year welt. And the red wings were so much more comfortable and felt like an actual $300 boot imo.These boots are meant to be causal not really a work boot either which is okay but for their price they need to be better. I wanted to like these but just can’t and yea I agree super nice to be able to try on red wings, that alone makes it worth it to me.

@@eazy_e.7153 that's what I mean by construction style. Blake stitched+ half stitch down vs good year welt, neither is really better than the other and both have pros and cons. The only other difference is type of leather chosen. Redwings is super stiff with a rough break in vs origins is very soft and supple, but it's actually a bit thicker than redwing leather. Hard to say for sure which leather would actually last longer under identical conditions. Both are high quality leather from quality tannery's just made differently. As far as comfort that's all subjective, besides my whites, the origins are the most comfortable boots I've worn. I have had thorogoods, danners, timberlands, gorucks, grant stones, whites, Thursdays and origins and they are the most comfortable out of the box to me. All I'd really like them to do is change out the insole from poron to leather for longevity(still keeping the removable foam insole), and add some new styles like moc toes and Chelsea boots. But next time you need boots, look into whites perry or perry selects or millwoods, in the same price range and all around a better boot than a redwing, if you like the redwings you'll definitely like White's

@@JMatt1 oh for sure. I’m a big fan of throgoods as well. And the origins were very comfy just could not get over the look and how they felt around my ankles, leather was extremely good but the overall build didn’t feel as sturdy as other boots at all such as what we’ve mentioned here.

MSRP on these are a little stiff for me, and thats coming from someone who has bought Red Wings new. I think because theyre newer on the scene and theres less info on them. But Im watching your video because im trying to decide if a lightly used pair (that I came across on Craigslist of all places) is worth $150? And how is sizing? Im usually a 10.5 regular width but since going to barefoot shoes I REALLY appreciate a wide toe box. Would a 10.5 fit me well or do they run long like most heritage boots?
@JMatt1
10 ай бұрын
Sizing I'd say for the Coronado's at least is slightly on the smaller side for boots, but the work boots feel more normal to other boots. I wear an 11 in sneakers (also barefoot and like wide toe boxes) for reference and the 10EE was on the Coronado is just slightly too small in the toe box for me to wear all day at work, kinda felt more of a 9.5EE at least in comparison to my danners that are also 10EE. But the 10.5EE Origin Work(previously known as Built) boots feels like I went up a full size not a half size so they might be sized a little different. They are pretty much the perfect size for me now. Most boots I wear 10-10.5 unless there is no wide option then I either avoid it or try an 11. But for 150 if they fit I wouldn't be afraid of them. The only concern I have with these is actually how flexible they are. Most work boots are stiff in the toe box, they were flexible and comfortable right out the box, the leather is thick so it SHOULD be fine but that's the only weak point I can potentially see

@@JMatt1 Thank you very much for the very in depth explanation on sizing, it helps tremendously! Also funny enough it seems we are virtually the same size. Im a 10-10.5 most boots and 11 athletic shoes. The only difference is I dont always go with an EE depending on model of boot because while my toes like the extra room, at least on a Brannock im a normal width at the midfoot and heel. Extra wide at the heel can fit sloppy and cause blisters for me. Anyway I looked at the listing compared with the origin website and looks like the pair are the 'Cristy Black' model which look like the work boot but with a black wedge sole. And I like wedge soles. Visually the boots look like it has a wider toe box last so I have a gut feeling the 10.5D will fit me fine. And I think a lot of work boots add a stiffener in the toe even for non steel-toe boots. So maybe its just the one layer of leather without a stiffener is why it feels more flexible. Again I see this as a pro. Stiff sole boots fatigue my feet much faster. Thanks for your help!

@@sergeantbigmac happy to help. I don't believe that is the work boot model, just the regular Coronado which is a soft toe boot not a composite toe like the work boot. But they are wider than the average boot and if you look on the website they market an expanded toe box so id bet they fit fine!
