People complain about Oscar not having a perfect London accent but I think it actually works for the character, He was made by a struggling child (altho he does exist at this point) who was never from London meaning he wouldn't have a perfect accent 🤷🏻

Oh God, this is so raw. It cut deep and the way Marc as a child reacted to the situation, repeating that it wasn't his mom and disassociating to cope with the abuse is actually such a real way to respond. I did the same thing as a kid, and this scene gave me flashbacks with how real it was.

I just noticed that Steve Rogers' full name is Steven Grant Rogers. He would have been a famous, presumed-dead war hero at the time that movie was made.
@girl1213
Жыл бұрын
Yup. Steven Grant the "Indiana Jones" adventurer was named after him, and Steven is named after that character. And it fits for how Marc sees him. People say Marc created Steven to help him cope with the loss of his little brother, and while that is true to an extent, I think the reality is shown right here. Marc needed a hero to save him from the monster is mother became. While it hurt to lose his brother, nothing hurt more than his own mother becoming the villain of his life. So Marc doesn't see Steven as his little brother...but his hero.

When Marc's mom came to beat him, young Marc switches from Marc to Steven to clean the room, but as soon as his mom came into the room Marc maybe switched back to Steven that's why Steven doesn't remember anything bad abt their mom (and her beatings). This shows how much of a big brother Marc is to Steven.

That is a terrible terrible mother right there, blaming her own child for (her son/his brothers) death, no no no no that's not right and the worst part, I'm telling you the terrible worst part is that she beats him hates him. I mean seriously. What kind of mother does that? No that's not right no she should get arrested for child abuse her own child, c'mon it's not his fault. Also telling your own child that they discuss you. What? No a mother should never ever ever say that to they're own child also never ever ever abuse or heat them no that's not right it isn't right. No, as Marc’s explaining, he created Steven in order to dissasociate w the reality that was his abusive mother and dead brother. Jake, on the other hand, seems to only ever come out when Marc is truly in danger of dying or otherwise. Jakes like his primal instinct whereas Steven was more what he wanted society to see him as when he was young

I think Marc created Steven and Steven created Jake but he doesn't remember it (my theory)
@Zanderreaper

@@LovelyAsHekc well the thing about DID is that an alter is not like an OC, the host does not create them consciously, their psyche does, so Steven quite literally does not know if he created jake or not, because a person with DID does not know they create alters, they usually find out they have one after they experience symptoms but it depends on the type. But my theory is that marc created both of them, half of Marc's psyche wanted his mother to love him, so his psyche created Steven, a alter who only knew his mother's love, while the other half of Marc's psyche hated his mother, so his psyche created Jake, a alter who only knew his mother's hatred and abuse. But that's just my theory.

I believe Jake is a manifestation of their war trauma, hence why he is so violent and quick to kill. Most likely Marc was in control at that time, since Steven can't even land a punch without his hand hurting.

Probably when Marc or Steven were able to watch R-rated movies and that's where one of em got Jake or Jake Lockley was the name of another person that Marc stole
@JamesTobiasStewart
8 ай бұрын
Well if they're using examples of real DID, then both alters were created unconsciously to address aspects of the original trauma. Steven is essentially Marc's happy place; an innocent, enthusiastic, friendly man, with normal hobbies, a happy, loving relationship with his mother and a couple of traits from Marc's brother sprinkled in. Until they started bleeding into each other, Steven was free from the abuse, free from the traumatic memories, free from the guilt of Marc's actions and from the pressure of Konshu's commands. He was a place for them, where everything was okay. But if Marc is an emotional protection, providing solace to their emotional damage, Jake is a protector for the real world. He keeps more of a distance from the others, but it's clear that Jake will react with brutal and efficient violence to anyone who threatens the network as a whole. He takes over when things are just too dangerous and removes the source of the danger.

Steven is an alter born from traumatic dissociation. In cases of serious trauma, particularly in childhood, people often dissociate in order to survive. Sometimes this is forgetfulness or repression of traumatic memories. Sometimes, like here, it’s a part of oneself breaking off. It started with Marc telling himself that his mom isn’t his mom, dissociating from her & her abuse. From there, he dissociates from himself into Steven, who is completely unaware of what’s happening, & starts cleaning his room. Even though Marc is the main part, he becomes a protector for Steven (not typical), keeping Steven safe from the abuse in order for his mind to survive the abuse. Hope that makes more sense of it.
