More delta acoustic blues than country... this is really just a spin on Robert Johnson's ol' Crossroads story... even down to Highway 61 mentioned. Keep in mind, that there are points of overlap with country, blues and bluesgrass... this is one of those times. But to me? This is pure acoustic blues. To you it's 'country'... the secret is... we're both right. I'm not calling Colter a rip off (love this dude's music)... this is his own song, his own style, but it borrows heavily from some VERY old blues. It's all good, I bet Robert Johnson would love this song. But the old crossroads trope in music (And more covers of this song that I can count... Clapton has done a few completely different covers of this classic over the years and decades) all trace back to here. Robert Johnson. kzitem.info/news/bejne/qKl4xZd9nZmBh6Q
