He seems geniuenly nice here. He smiles when Rosebud is brought up.

Are you surprised? He always appeared nice, and was never a boring guest/interview.

Orson Welles and Marlon Brando. Two enormous talents... Two enormous bodies.

A great interview depends on the questions being asked by the interviewer. This one is excellent.

"Everybody denies I am a genius - but nobody ever called me one!" - Orson Welles. (People are so quick to invalidate those who've made great contributions to the art of filmmaking, especially those who do nothing but criticize.)

So brave of you to stick up for for this man, in a time where his contribution to the art of film making are acknowledged by everyone. I'm sure when the fascists take over, you will be just as brave to point out how bad it was of us people to disregard the fascism inspired art that was made during the current times.

Rosebud is (according to a biography of Welles I'm reading) the pet name Hearst had for a certain part of his mistresses anatomy. I don't know if Welles even knew this at the time of writing Kane, but it may explain his little smile. (In case someone reading this doesn't know, Citizen Kane is based loosely on the life of Hearst)

Welles knew everybody and probably heard about Marion Davies' Rosebud second hand.

I think that Welles's deity can blare during the whole video also thanks to the interviewer's clever questions.

This man was married to maybe Hollywoods most gorgeous star ever Rita Hayward. She left him after a few years because she felt Welles was far too intellectual for her. Nothing more to be said.

The best artists seem always underfunded and under-appreciated Welles and Kubrick infamously had GENIUS films in their hearts that greedy, scheming, double-crossing, hand-rubbing money men never allowed them to make. Shame. Genius is bigger than greed (even if greed holds back genius).

Every cinema-goer should have the right to give kicks into ass of each and every performer, director and cameraman of the movie Citizen Kane at the end of the show as punishment for producing such uninspired, monotonus movie with the charme of an empty tin-can !
