It's match day today and I didn't match into ortho this year. I created this video way before finding out if I was matched into a program. I decided to still post the video because these are facts about my interview experience and interview journey. I wanted to be as transparent as possible because life doesn't always work out the way you want it to. As I said in the video, matching is extremely difficult. If post-match does not work out for me this year, maybe next year will. If you've been in my shoes before, please leave me a comment below on how you got through this. Thank you so much for all your love and support.

Awww :(( I’m sorry. so what happens next? Do you go into practicing general dentistry? and then you can apply again next year or?
@ErikaCorrea
Жыл бұрын
@@vertexwebcreations Yes! I'll most likely be looking for a job as a dentist after finishing my current program and then I will re-apply to ortho residency next year. Some other options I have are doing a second year of GPR/ AEGD, an ortho internship/fellowship or getting a masters degree. I'll still mostly get a job because paying off loans and being financially secure is important too.

Don’t give up! I was in your shoes last year, I didn’t match. This year I reapplied and was able to get into a program! I did a GPR after graduation and reworked my application. Keep up the hard work!

Hi Erika, can you please tell what was your experience interviewing for ortho residency program? What kind of questions do they usually ask? Is there an blueprint to prepare?

I’m in a GPR right now but it’s only a year long. I’ll be reapplying to ortho next year!

@@ErikaCorrea ohh I see so one can be both?
@ErikaCorrea
Жыл бұрын
@@emeksb4823 Yes you can do both! I purposely applied to the GPR I am at in order to enhance my orthodontics application. Since I won't be doing ortho next year, the GPR is also helping me enhance my general dentistry skills. Some people do multiple specialties because they change their mind later on.

Hi Erika, You are great! How many orthodontic's residencies do you apply for? Thank you !

Hi! I applied to 30 the first time and 14 the second time. Apply to as many as you can afford to apply to because it is extremely expensive.
