A perfect example of a child looking at and sounding out each letter in an unfamiliar written word and connecting it to a word in her lexicon. It proves at least two points:
1. Making children look away from words to try to use context/pictures robs them of the process of orthographically mapping words.
2. Leaping on them and trying to correct their pronunciation while they're sounding out also inhibits orthographic mapping. Let their brains do the work.
